my 08 cf1000 sp is in need of some new engine parts and the motor has been apart for a week now, parts still haven't been aproved to order yet - cat needs to fix this. these sleds are not any cheaper than before and next year they will be even more money. if things go wrong, since sh*t happens why does it have to be like pulling teath to get our investments fixed. yes guys scam and get warranty on things that is not a manufacturs fault, but that shouldn't be left up to the dealers to enforce. this is a power sports market and a snowmobiler is different from any other power product, my brand is better then your brand. snowmobilers will enhance there machine to their own and it is what pushes the manufacturers to build a better product. now you have their product you include warranty on the purchase of a power product now fix it cause i paid for the service.

done ranting i have had 5 previous cats 03 f7, 04 f7, 05 f7, 06 f7, 07 f1000, 07 cf1000 sp, and have not needed the warranty that is 800 to a 1000 dollars of paid money that was not used by my self but now it is my turn cough it up.

Are you sure that the dealership didnt just forget to order your parts? There may be another factor involved. Im not necessarily sticking up for them, but have seen this type of thing before. ITs always easier to blame someone else for your own mistakes. Either way sorry to hear about your misfortune. Ask them to take some parts off a sled they have in stock?

Did you modify the sled in any way?

Never had any problems with Cat warranties. They have always come through no questions asked even on 3 & 4 year warranties. May be your dealer not Cat that is holding it up.
snopro31
you have bad luck. first its stolen at the start of the season and now its apart.
fly_kid003
im thinking your dealer is playing games with you. cat warranty claims usually get approved up here at the dealership within the same day.

same here!! I sure hope cat is still honoring the warranty, hopefully, just an isolated dealer problem? 3/4 the reason I buy cat is because they have been good about warranty work in the past.

Buddy blew his 08 M1000 last weekend and will be picking it up Monday all by AC.

I'm wondering the same. In his rant it almost eludes to how we all mod our sleds differently. I mean if it -was- modded I can see why it'd be denied. I mean they do have to draw a line somewhere right?

But I'm not saying that's what happened. Original poster-> What's the full story?

I am calling bullshit for several reasons.
The dealer never has to wait for anyone before ordering parts.

He doesn't even have to wait for factory aprovial before completing a warranty repair, if you are under the extended warranty, and the repair exceeds $500 the claim must be approved before completing the job (parts can be ordered the day you drop the sled off), I have never had this take more than 6 hours, unless it is an extreme problem, the claim is for several thousand dollars, and the warranty company wants to send an adjuster to inspect (to make sure it wasn't caused by operator abuse or mods) even then it only takes 2 or 3 days.

no i did not mod the sled, the sled is an 08 and i was told because it was a new cat has to decide if they put in a compleat motor or pice it back together. anti freese was found in the cylinders the pipe and y pipe was removed and anti freese came out. we are wating that is all it sucks because my dealer cant get caught ordering parts then cat say no motor pice it together after we drop in a mill it sucks.

It sounds like your dealer sucks.........

My 06 CFSP7 was out of warranty by over a year when it melted down(Oil pump mounting bolt fell off) and my dealer(Lewiston Motorsports) was able to get approval for AC to warranty the oil pump, oil pump driveshaft, pistons, and a new cylinder in about a day. I took the motor out and took it apart taking pic as I went. My dealer had me email the pics to the AC rep and then he called them and got approval to replace all effected parts. I payed some labor to check out the crank and put it back together. I then put the sled back together myself. All in all I am very happy that my dealer and AC stepped up and saved me around a $1000.
