Update!

Recieved the following e-mail response today from Mark Olson regarding this issue:

Thank you for contacting me during the recent legislative session with your concerns about snowmobiling rights and the needed revenues that could have been eliminated by Senate File 3087. Your initiative and time taken to provide supportive input to our legislative process is helpful and appreciated. This letter is to provide you a brief history of related legislative activities.

As a long time supporter of keeping various state lands accessible and available for the use of all Minnesotans, I know we’ve had many hard fought uphill battles to preserve our liberties with no end in sight. I believe we must preserve the rights of people to participate in their outdoor activities of choice; whether that is snowmobiling, four wheeling, cross country skiing, biking or just hiking etc... Some say it’s a tall order but as one of the states listed amongst the highest in government owned land, we can and it is the right thing to do.

Senate File 3087 was withdrawn by its author shortly after introduction earlier this year. It never made it off the ground, nor was a companion file ever introduced in the house. While various snowmobile or motorized vehicle related regulatory language was discussed for possible inclusion in the earlier versions of the environment and natural resources finance bill, nothing pertaining to snowmobiles made it into the final version which passed in the final days of session.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional legislative concerns please feel free to contact my office again.

May God Bless America, Again!

Sincerely,

Mark Olson
