Last time I went riding my temp light came on right away the first day I started the sled. The motor was dead cold at the time. I thought maybe my new PERC CDI was messed up so I switched it out for the regular CDI, temp light still came on. So I bypassed the temp sensor and rode the whole weekend with no problems.

Is my temp sensor bad or is there something else I need to check? The sled ran great the whole weekend and everything else worked fine(except for the speedo light), but I don't think it was working before, don't remember for sure. Probably just the bulb on that deal. I'm almost positive I have everything hooked up correctly, I would think everything has to be hooked up correctly otherwise I would be noticing some other things not being right. On a good note, the PERC reverse works great.

Hopefully my luck will change, I've had more problems with my sled in the last month than I've had the entire time I've owned it. Broken spring hook on exhaust, partially plugged pilot jets(2 weeks after cleaning them), broken clutch cover bolt(my fault), and now this temp sensor. All minor things at least.

If your not sure and need a cheap check or trail save , go to radio shack and get a few 1/4 watt resistors put them in series to they add up to 1000~ 2000max ohms and cross the two wire connector with your resistor bank . this will tell your CDI the motor is +70*f ~ 110*f. If your stock sensor reads less then 200 ohms at room temp its toast , normal readings for 68* is 2400 ohms.

Take a look at the wiring diagram picture - left side about the middle. It lists the specs for testing the Temp sensor.

Hope that helps.

the last couple of times I have started my 03 600 PRO-X, I have come out of the garage to get on it and my temp light is on also. I shut the sled off and start it again and the light is off, whats up with that?

check your wires that go into the connectors. i have had to resolder mine twice so far. they tend to fray and snap off.
