Hello, buddy has a 99xc 600 with 5000 miles has been real good to him but the rear suspension is wasted and he would rather upgrade than repair. He thinks m-10 but has know idea, maybe buy used suspension from newer polaris. What have you done and if you havnt what would you do. He will also need to know what is compatible with or with out adaptor. He is trying to figure out if he will fix her up and ride another 5000 miles or start looking for a switchback.

any info would be a big help i havnt been on a polaris since 1995 so kinda of out of the loop.

Ps the new IQ has me thinking though they ride sweet!

i think somebody on here put the iq suspension under a gen II. it looked pretty cool, but also looked like a lot of work

There isn't any suspension that will just bolt in there without having to mod the sled somehow, for different mounting locations. Personally, I don't think there is enough special about that sled to bother keeping it unless you are the type that enjoys wrenching for wrenching's sake. I'm pretty sure your buddy would be further ahead by repairing what needs to be repaired, even if that means getting another suspension used and then selling the sled. For how much an M10 costs, plus the work involved, it's not worth it, unless you get the skid dirt cheap.

Anyone capable of doing their own service work, with a few decent tools and a place to work out of the weather, can have a late model Poo suspension (take your pick, makes no difference, they're all good) installed in a day. Not hard to buy any of the newer suspensions for less than 300. on Ebay.

When you consider what even the least expensive sleds are going for, I think maybe it is worth the trouble if you have a sled you want/need to hang on to for another season or two. Just me.

I have both a '99 xtra-10 and a NEW IQ rear skid that I would part with. Give me a PM if interested.

For info on installing that IQ skid in your buddies machine check out my transformation of my 99 XC500 (It's under my personal account)...it was a fair amount of work, but it handles bumps like my IQ did last year, which was my biggest concern. It just does not corner and have as much power as a new machine, though for the price difference it's very livable. There is a diagram included for the mounting hole locations as well.

Read through the whole thing to the end, there is a pretty good breakdown on how to do it, so you know what you would be getting into. After I was done I realized I could have reused my stock rear bolt support plates, so he would not have to source those out.

I am VERY happy with this modification to my sled...so much so that I am considering a motor swap instead of buying a new sled so I can keep the new suspension.

PM Pooge (My personal account) if you have any questions.

Glad to hear you're still getting along with that conversion. I very nearly went with an IQ for my latest project - an '07 Apex RTX. Ran across a Pro X skid that was just too right, couldn't pass it up. -Al
