Rode my buds Doo XP last nite for about 15 miles. Now I rode it when he first got it and didn't like it. But now it's broke in and I got to say it's a nice sled. I don't know If I can go to a 2 stroke again, but I don't think that will bother me at all. he has a 600 and it pulls very good for a 600. I got 101 on the speedo with my heavy ass on it. Ride was awesome, cornering took some getting used to but it rocks! Rode the same trail with my Apex and the Doo could go 10 mph faster and feel just as safe. I didn't like the way the motor wound down after you stop, but I liked everything else! Everything. Rider forward was great. Legs felt like I belonged on it. Steering was so light I wondered if I would turn at times, but it railed the corners. Bumps? what bumps, best riding machine I have ever ridden and I ride all of them when I get a chance.
1108 miles on his when I got off. he has not had any problems, none. Hasn't even tightened the track and he does look his sled over every day. He looks for things to fix, but it hasn't had any.
As I write this I was thinking of improvements and I can't come up with any. I think that sled is spot on! Like I said other than the wind down of the motor at stop. He hits the choke and it settles quickly.
also rode in my field about 2ft of powder, now here is where it really shined. His sled with him on it are about 600 pounds, my Apex is 560ish? before I'm on it. So I'm roughly 840 with my fat ass. I was plowing a trail and casey was zig zagging around me. LOL I told him lets get to a trail as I go thru the snow and he stays on top. Now I weigh about 80 pounds more than him so on any other sled it's not real noticable, but with the XP it sure is.
I honestly thought I would never be writing this, but I need to start thinking about a new sled for next year, so far it's the XP, Dragon, and a Nytro in that order. Now I'm riding a new Nytro friday nite, so my choice may change, but I really don't know? Hats off to Doo for this sled.
P.S. I have ridden the 03,04,05,06 rev and my knee's hurt on all of them, but my ass fits extremely well on the XP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now try an 800r and tell us what you think! I'll bet you wont be considering a Dragon or Nytro any more.

Nice post Roy.
I like how you call it as fair as you see it.
I road my first 4-stroke(RX-1) this past monday and was surprised
how well it handled. Didn't feel that heavy in the trails at all. Only felt
heavy when you hit a bunch of snow drifts along a field. Loved the
POWER tho!

My Bud showed up from the dealer at my local lunch hangout with a 08 Nytro, no xtx. Well ok, I looked it over. Fit and finish? excellent!!!!!!!Then I started it up. Don my bud says, watch out for the power. LOL I explained my Apex is about 164hp so I don't think a 130 or so Nytro will impress me. I took off, turning in the lot and almost tipped over. WTF!
So out across the road and bagged it. Ok, about 600cc sled pull to 70 or so? then fell on it's ugly face. Creeped to 92mph in 1/2 mile. This is not a fast sled. My Apex by then would have been doing 110 to 115 by then, Ok so it's a little short on power, but it soaked up the bumps like a XP. Very smooth. Then I let off the gas and it darted so fukin bad, I mean darted left, right, and seemed to have body roll to follow the dart to the point that I thought I was going to wreck really fukin bad at over 90 on a borrowed sled. w00t.png
Now I ride hard and fast, but this sled is a WIDOW MAKER!!!!!!!!!!!! I turned around, Oh, by the way in powder a worse turd than a RX-1, baaaaaaaaaaaaaa and go nowhere. Then I rode back at 50mph as to not wreck this thing and get it back safe and sound. I will never, ever ride a Nytro ever again! there is something wrong with a sled that tries to kill you. LOL
I;m serious as a heart attack. I love my Apex, but thought lighter, smaller faster? Hey lets ride a Nytro. IMO, stay away.

Well I'm down to 2 choices left. Bet you know what I'll buy.LOL lol.gif

Sounds like that Nytro needs some fine tuning. My Wifes Nytro rides and handles awesome with absolutely no darting at all. Now back to your next sled choice, before you make a decision on the XP you need to try the new Doo 1200 X 4 stroke. I had a chance to test ride it for about 20 miles the last two days. This sled ROCKS!! I absolutely love the way it rides and handles and the engine is awesome. I also rode the new Etech and the 4 stroke feels waay faster and since you are riding an Apex you will want the torque of the 4 stroke. I thought the 1200 4 stroke felt faster smoother and quieter than the Etech but handled and rode just as good. After owning a 4 stroke and riding this new Doo I now know for certain that I will never own another 2 stroke. I thought the Etech felt slow after riding the 4 stroke.
busted
I have read that on HCS before about the Nitro FX. There was a guy with pictures on here that totaled his FX Nitro in 17 miles! It darted right into the woods on him at 80mph. The thing was flatend. He was actually trying to sell it (what was left).

I just bought an 800R XP. Getting of an F7 (2 of them actually). I think if you have Apex power, you are going to be more in line with the 800r over the 600. No comparison. The 800r is just rediculous. All the negative talk about handling, ski lift, etc. is bullshit. I tunned out the ski lift in 5 minutes. The sled is absolutely a rocket. Top end too. Right there with the Apex!

One thing though. If you are pushing 3 balloons, you will definately need to tighted the spring blocks on the 800r to stiffest. I have an Adrln and it bottoms easy with my 220 lbs on soft. Other than that you can ride 40-50 mph through 3 foot moguls. Could never do that on my F7's..........

PS: They have all black too for those of us that can't officially go Yellow grinning-smiley-023.gif

There are heavier spring's available from the dealer 37.95 ea. (can) I weigh 235 and have an x and ordered heavier spring's run them on #3
and the world is a comfortable place D J

I get to ride almost every sled out there, I really enjoyed the XP, nice sled, great on the bumps and quite good in the twisties, what I wasn't impressed with, was it's top end speed, the Mach ZX is quite a bit faster on the big end than the XP, if Doo ever puts the 1000 CC twin in that chassis it will be a close to perfect sled.

I had the misfortune(?) to test ride a new 08Nytrofx Mid dec. in old forge. ALmost flipped it at 30 mph, felt as stable as a 3 legged bar stool,No wind protection, even w/ the TALL windscreeen, literally the reason my Yamaha dealer insider, said the quick redesign of the 09 ,i.e.>/144 track, TOTALLY redone front susp, etc.

1st imp ..THEY sell these 'effing death traps?..and last,Get a good Ins policy and train urself to ride a leaf spring 1973 TNT Silver Bullet, all over again.! russian_roulette.gif

agreed. now that i have my 800 dialed in it's pretty dam quick in 660ft, but it lacks in top. i love the xp chassis and i love the torque of the 1000. together they would be a damn nice hard to beat sled.
