Glass Racing
We rode to Portage last weekend from Woodlands up the river and really enjoyed the ride. We didn't have much time and only stopped for gas at the Shell near the Days Inn and turned around and rode home. I want to do the ride again this year but this time I want to stop some place decent for some food and drink. I know there is a Boston Pizza there, can you legally get to it on your sled? Where is a good place to stop and how do you get there from the Shell Station?

days inn is on the west side of portage right??? if so last time i went through portage(2 years ago) there were sled tracks along the traintracks across from the coop gas station across from BP

The sno-man trail comes into town on the south side from the days inn. Follow it to the track and it crosses at the tracks by the co-op and heads aways then goes north out of town. You will cross the main drag at the co-op and the boston pizza will be right there. You cant legally ride to it. But I have a number of times with no trouble what so ever. I have also ridden to the pizza hut, mcdonalds and subway in the west end of town. Just hop the tracks at the crossing and your good to go. For the most part nobody cares and the cops have never bothered me yet.
If your in the area for a ride try the "south loop" on the snowman trail. Goes through the portage sand hills and usually some decent riding out there. I havent been out that way yet this year for some reason.

Forgot to mention. If your riding the river I would get off east of portage a ways. I have never really ridden it much around here because its never frozen. And where the #240 highway crosses the river do not cross on the ice. Use the bridge. Track or not. WHen crossing you will usually see open water on the north shore at the exact place a guy drowned before the bridge was there.

i've ridden right into the can tire with no problem. and ate at the hotel next door. good food and lounge, and got to see some curling too(didnt know the rink was there) lol.
Oh Canada
I agree with what they said above. Or, if you are looking to try some small town eats go east along hwy 331 from Portage to Oakville and stop in at Stooks restaurant. I guarantee you will enjoy your meal! Oakville is 13 miles east of PlaP.
