Thanks Grasshead!

gonna tear into her and give the Jester once over. smiley-faces7.gif The clutches are the first thing to get done along with some minor engine, air box mods to get the fuel curve back on track and running rpoper. The primary is in need of a slight cut and trim and the secondary offset is way off. May have to loosen some mounting bolts to get the motor moved over a little. Cat sure knows how to screw up a good machine. veryangry.gif As of right now the cf7 will take it to 80 per by a wisker then she goes by slowly but I know there is alot there to be had. It will go to Birch Point marine for some fixing and dyno time and then I will go to work on the clutches. Hope to have her set up for a least a few rides after I get back from Florida with the kids for march break. have a good one!

Looks like the sled is coming with - Is that the suitcases you packed or a muffler ??? Damn those things are huge

Looks like fun - Enjoy

I agree with Scott....no winder the 1000 is so darn heavy. I wonder if the 800 packs the monster suitcase also.

Regardless I'd take one grinning-smiley-023.gif

When I first saw that suitcase I thought to myslef WTF! It's huge! May have to look at another option but I like quiet and stock looking. I hope to have the very light mods done like airbox(nice setup with corner air cone throwing air right at the throttle assemblies. The cf has the advantage here as the air box is the same as my old f7. With the Flashes being done to this one I can now see that they most definitely detuned them on the bottom to top. A key way will fix up the blubbery bottom and middle along with some fresh air and we may need to add a little fuwl after as well in spots. No doubt an addition of a speedwerx y along with some mods to the stock pipe to keep the stealth look will net some horses but will play that one by ear. I think that the setup that mdw has with the cut secondary and xs belt is gonna be the way I go but we will see.

Have a good one guys.

I was very surprised that the cf7 was quicker but after looking at the condition of the belt and how far the offset was, it is lucky to beat a 440. The belt was laying down below the top of the secondary(thin). I know my cf7 works well against an xp 8 gade as I ran ahead to past 90 and then the gade 8 would just catch me and at 100 I would creep away to top end. The xp is very quick stock but tops at 100-104 at best.

Congrats Jester! Nice sled!

I remember last year you mentioned you were hoping to snag one of those babies this year.

What's the cut secondary all about? Will it work on and F?

I'm curious about cutting the primary. I have an 08 800 and the clutch alignment is off about 150 thou. Cat does not want us to shim the secondary and I'm looking for options. It does not seem possible to move the primary in more when I'm looking at the tapered crank. Everyone thinks that a small dent in the bottom of the bulkhead just below the crank is the culprit on the clutch alignment. I hope that is not the case so I am looking for a way to fix without replacing the bulkhead. This sled ran like a raped ape, all stock for 500 plus miles after the bulkhead dent.

It is a cut of the sheaves to make it an 11" so that i can use a longer xs 809 Polaris belt. This will start off at a lower gear but still have the overrev as before on top. When you do this you need more offset as well. I may have to slot the motor mounts to get her over far enough but I may have just enough in taking shims out and giving the case a slight trimming as well. I did this with my cf7 and using the xs belt, I have gone 1800 mls on the same belt and it looks great still after blowing several at the begining. I don't think you can cut the f10 as I do not beleive here is a compatible belt that is longer. After cutting it may be able to use the 817 too but will have to measure. I will try without cut first and then if I am not happy with the temps, i will cut the sheaves.

If it is out 150 making the secondary too far in you are in luck as that is the direction you want to go. It may be running great becasue you now have more offset and the belt temps are better. My bet is that if you were to go to a xs belt with lower weights to get the rpms right you would be even faster up top and harder out of the hole.

I actually have a XS belt sitting around already. I'm curious to see if this may work without doing any cutting on the secondary. The belt is the recommended cat belt for the 800.

It will pull your rpms down quite a bit. If you are going to use the xs belt, I would grab a set of 65 or 66 gram big dog weights from D&D and the orange spring with it if you use the 65 grams the cat orange white is good too as you will want to run about 7750-7800 on the long run. You should be able to use the secondary as it is but a slightly different spring might be helpful but stock will get you the right rpms. You will also need to run the offset in some if you can. take out one of the 060 shims behind the secondary but make sure it clears the gear case. I hope this helps.
