Just a qestion: Aren't they supposed to shut down when hot. A few weeks ago, a RX-1 had a dead battery, they kept it going at idle at the warming hut, and it shut down when it got hot. At leat we assumed that is why it shut down. Check with dealer on this. If it is supposed to and it did not, they may help you out. If that does not work, check with Yamaha itself. I am sure if you explained situation, they may offer some assistance to keep you agood Yamaha customer. I have not heard much on engine issues with yamaha and they my help ya just to keep reliability and customer satisfaction up.

I think I read somewhere that a Yamaha will not shut down if over heating (a light will come on), but they will shut down after 3 min if you don't touch the throttle, But will not if you do touch the throttle (every time you touch the gas the timer starts over)... I will try to figure out where I read that and get back to you.
You said that you over heated the motor (sounds like you blew the motor if your looking for a replacement) don't forget to replace the cooler or it will happen again. Hey the cooler was damaged right did you hit something? What about an Ins. claim?
Good luck

Yes they only shut down if they are idling, if they are running it overrides the computer and it will run untill its done. Great deal i got haha. So after alot of work and an almost complete disassembly of the sled we have finally got the engine out and it is not looking good so i think i'll just need to get a new engine. Truckpuller i tryed calling your number today and got the machine i'll try again tonight. any idea of how much your want for it thanks

And yes the heat exchanger was punctured by a stud because the suspension was not tuned right to start with. As for yamaha helping us out we would have to take it back to michigan because thats where we bought it from and even then i dont know if they would heklp because nothing would have happened if the studs werent put on in the first place!
