Me and a buddy heading up to Niles for the first time Friday morning, where is the best place to unload for the day? Thanks
lakeeffectsledhead
Look at the map I posted on Animalmxz700's party post. It shows the best staging area for Niles, which is on M51 north of Niles a couple miles.
Don't't follow the purple line all the way. If you look at the map you can see the yellow trail leading to the staging area.

Just got back, did 102 miles. If you stage at M51 the further north you go from there the deeper the snow gets. Trails where in good shape around Niles for the amount of snow they had though. Hats off to you guys that take care of that trail system, you have something to be proud of there.

Where can I get a trail map? Online and to have one to carry with me.

How much snow on the ground there?

We have a good 6" base in most areas. More in others. Last time I was on the the trail it had a good 3-4" base of packed groomed trail. Hopefully it is still that way. You can get a trail map at Dales Mini Mart about 1 mile south of the M-51 staging area. Online, the trails are posted on fishweb.com The trails are a little different, there are some added loops around the M-51 staging area.
