Well I got in a good ride today. Started Hyner Run was headed to Germania and beyond but the joint use road was plowed down to almost nothing so I decided to head up the pipeline and on to the GC. Did 130 miles. Trails were flat and fast. There were some icy spots in some of the turns especially up towards Ansonia and Colton Point. Trails had good coverage (for the most part) Saw two groomers. Traffic was very light. All in all a great day.

Rode around 130 miles today.. it was pretty good. Pipeline and all started getting rough because there were so many sleds. I'd be coming down the hill on the pipeline and 25 sleds were in front of me and my group and 30 behind us. So many sleds.. everyone taking advantage of the snow, groomed trails, and cold weather. 6 degrees when we started out at around 7ish-7:30ish.
We went to Germania.. then I showed the people I was riding with around to Mill Run Road and that area. We didn't have enough fuel to make it to Colton, so I ran out to Leetonia and then back to Wilson Point. I am pretty familiar with that area. I hadn't been to Germania in about 2 years though.
Anyone know who the woman was that took the Polaris Dragon down over the bank on Hungry Hollow? We stopped to see what was going on and if they needed help.. but they were at a standstill at the moment waiting for the rest of their crew to come back. He said he was okay and they took her .. I don't know where. The guy had a firecat.. and I passed a F1000 coming up over Hungry when I was going down over into Ole Bull.

He said she bailed... which was a good thing.

I came across a collision near Black Forest between a Cat and Doo. Lot's of yellow and green parts on the trail. They gave me the thumbs up as i passed them letting me know they were OK. Couldn't tell who one from all the debris!
Lots of crazies out there on the narrow trails riding like they stole em. I'm surprised i didn't see more collisions. Corners were very icy underneath. Keep em right!

Rode 130 miles on Sat. Stayed mostly to the west of Rt 44 from the Haneyville area to Cross Forks and Cherry Springs and back via Slate Run and Black Forest. Economically I imagine that it was a great weekend for alot of the establishments. Outside of Cross Forks there was a young lady who was rear ended by one of her own group. The impact was so terrific that the handle bars and windshield were snapped off a newer GSX. The Polaris appeared totalled. Met a group of five tourers who were taking up the whole trail. When the fourth one went by me on a tight turn I was stopped by that point and I threw my hands up in disbelief. Hopefully, that group didn't set an accident up for a throttle jockey. Rode Sunday morning thirty miles near the Haneyville area. While the trails were nice the sleet/rain was a shield nuisance.

Who hit who in that accident? Totalled sled and snapped handlebars and nobody was hurt?
When there is traffic like that you just gotta expect somebody around every corner. There are a lot of inexperienced riders out there that basically panic coming at you. I had a touring group coming at our group on Sat and i could tell they were shakey so i pulled basically off the trail almost to a complete stop and when the first lady went by me she still almost hooked my ski even though she had 3 feet to her right.
I left the cabin in Haneyville early today when it started to rain. I just figured it wasn't worth it since i was up there for the good stuff on Thu, Fri, Sat and with the rain i just didn't want to deal with. I suppose the lesser travelled trails where still OK this AM.

I led most of our 130 miles our group did... and I was on the outlook in every corner. I had a few guys come flyin' around the turns.. going at least over 50. I just kept my side. I just had to be awake.. by the end of the day I had blood shot eyes.

Beautiful riding.. everyone was out to take advantage of it.

We were at the bar/restaurant in Cross Forks when the guy brought his wife/girlfriend in and asked for a bag of ice. He explained that his uncle, who had been repeatedly warned about coming up on people too fast, reared ended the sled. The guy, for good reason, was really pissed. The lady placed the ice on her left leg shin. DCNR was inspecting the sleds when we passed them on the joint use road on the north side of Rt 144 leaving Cross Forks. We stopped and checked the sleds. Should have taken a pic.

PA Viper, I think I passed you somewhere on Saturday. We rode from the Coach Stop thru the Canyon, by Black Forest Club, over to Germania, up to Cherry Springs, and finally to Potato City Inn for lunch. Wow, I don't think I have seen that many sleds on those trails ever. I guess alot of PA riders just wait for it to snow in PA. I think I passed a dozen guys that were on the wrong side of the trail. The sun did the real damage sat. By the end of the day, trails in the sun were down to zip.
Hopefully there will be more before the season is over.

Okay here goes. I left here a Potter virgin and came home in love! We rode most of Satuday and I put on 140 miles. We got off to a late start due to mechanical issues with another fellows sled (these guys really need to buy some Yamahas), but once we got underway all was well. We had a very mixed group of 10 so it was what I would call a relaxed ride. We had my wife of course as the rookie, (okay second time, but that's still a rookie!) some older sleds with not so bump friendly skids, a father with a younger one on board and then a few of us wack job types that tend to ride a "little" harder. We kept a nice 30-35 pace so everyone could stay together although a few of us would "scout ahead" from time to time. From the camp right by Prouty Park our access was Wild Boy to the top. We did a 60 mile loop around Lyman to Potato City and back to camp via the pipeline for luch. We followed that up with an 80 miles jaunt to Cherry Springs then Cross Forks and finally down to Wharton. Believe it or not I passed on the final 11PM run to Tater City that would have given me another 40 miles. I chose to run up to Coudersport and fuel the truck and get things loaded for morning instead. I'm sure I missed an "adventure" per say, but I was glad I wasn't out till 2AM! Trails were busy, but we were mainly on the south west side of 44 where I would say it was a little less crowded. Good snow up top, but VERY ICY corners getting up and down. I can only recall a few bare areas on some of the sunny sides and other than the shoot into Cherry Springs it was smooth sailing. I began LOOKING for bumps at one point! I'll be the first one to try to push a Viper "no-action" as hard as any sled with a REAL bump skid through the rough stuff! Guys/gals I was with were NOT used to seeing somebody ride standing up so much or getting ON the throttle going over the rollers! It was tough, cause' the groomers had things in nice shape IMO and it was certainly smoother than what I am used to.
All told, I had a blast and will be itching to get back whenever I can. SOOOOO much more to see and explore! My only complaint was driving 10mph for about an hour this morning on glare ice roads. THAT SUCKED!

Got up to my cabin at Kettle Creek State Park Thurs. night ready for Friday riding. First thing Friday rode out to Wharton to check out the new bridge. Beautiful!! Had to go back to camp because of a minor breakdown on my buddy's F6. Then, back out through Wharton to Costello over the goat path trail. Had some dinner and a fruit punch and back to Kettle Creek via Portage, Ridge Rd, Wharton, and back up the mountain to Montour. It was a great ride. Perfect conditions. Saturday We rode Wharton, Cherry Springs and Cross Fork with some extra trail exploring in between. Again. Nice Ride. On a trip back to Wharton it looked like someone took out part of the guide rail on the snowmobile bridge. Too fast? Drunk? Really, really, really bad aim? I take the latter because it makes me laugh when I think of some Joe completely missing the bridge!!!
If I had one complaint (other than the plowing of roads. pointless to complain) I wish I wouldn't have seen a groomer once the whole weekend. It seems as though some of the trails had good snow then an hour later the groomer came and now its stones across the crown of the road. I prefer long lasting bump trails to 1 day smooth.(someone sold me a sno-pro suspension! I might as well try it out) The groomer I saw was darting over to the left side of the trail. Not sure why, but more than one corner of Montour rd was nice flat groomed around the inside of the turn only. Invitation to disaster.
All in all, it was a great weekend.

Not sure. I can't recall seeing an XP like yours, but I saw a lot of sleds. We WERE over by Potato City near lunch time to let the ladies take a potty stop, but we didn't stay long. Ass on another Viper just about clocked my wife close to there. Naturally he came around on her side and missed her by about four inches and was then nice enough to roost her once he got his shit back on his own side. She was pissed to say the least! Not sure why keeping right is such a tough concept.

Passed by on the way to Potter Friday, but didn't ride there. Rode RB back in December for the first time and liked it a lot. Don't tell the LH guys, but it might just be better! A little closer for me too. Didn't get over 80 to check out the gas/food situation though. We liked the parking/restroom at RB and I feltt the trail network is well laid out. Brought some new sledders from Westminster Md and we ended up with a 135 mile loop. Haneyville to Colton Point, back down the pipeline and around to Haneyville. Traffic was very low. Conditions ranged from excellent to absolute nothing... as in dirt. I was suprised how much the snow varied. Some trails had 6-10 inches of nice powder, a very few were slushy, some hardpack and lots of ice in the turns. You never new what the next trail would bring. We almost gave up a couple times, but then the next turn would bring an A+ trail. More snow is needed for sure. I'm glad we went although I'm not sure the hyfax and runners would agree.

Hey, a Cat with the hood up! Nothing new there!
Sounds like most of the reports from this weekend combined into one. It's amazing how you go from reading "it sucked" to "it was great" in regards to the same riding area. Everyone has different expectations I guess, but I like the fact that you acknowleged the good and bad instead of just writing it all off as bad riding! Wish I could have gone along. Another friend went up to RB Winter for the first time on Saturday and commented how good the riding was up there. It wasn't fun to be at home/work reading about all the decent riding this weekend! I'm off for the next three so I'm going to try my best to take advantage of it IF the weather cooperates.

Some how I doubt that AC has
anything that would help the Apex run better, unless you siphoned the gas out of it.

In fairness the Cat , it was not really broke, it has set for the last two years and I think it may have an intermittent float issue in one of the carbs. Other than that it's a nice sled and in great condition for a 99.

Just returned from a 120 mile loop. Haneyville to Ansonia. Most trails were decent. A few were rough. Mill Run one of the best. Thin spots on southern exposures. Started to snow around 2:30 pm. First to ride a road west of Rt 44 at 3:00 pm that had been groomed hours earlier and had a chance to set up. Took us twice as long to drive back to Muncy. Looks like everyone is gearing up for the weekend. Gas could be a problem. Enjoy.

Well this weekend wasn't the greatest. Went to Tater city on saturday.. put on about 80 or so miles.. i hit 1000 for the year. My snopro took a shit on me.. we had to tow it part way and then run it the rest. It dropped the mid range needle.. and so once we got on the level near crossforks, my brother ran it flat out, using choke, for about 10 miles straight. If we ran it below 3/4 throttle, it would drop on one cylinder. Easy fix, we took the carbs off the same night. So if you saw the green 440 snopro sitting beside the road where the trail meets the road to go to the gas station and resturant, that was me. My dad went back to summit and brought the trailer to pick me up.
Click to view attachmentIf you saw a tied down 600 srx with orange decals on it... that was my race sled.

Going to try and go next weekend again.. heard something about snow this week. Going to try and ride TROUBLE free..
