My buddy has a 98 Mach Z and wants to upgrade his pipes. I think he said 99-03 stock pipes are better, also aftermarket pipes too. Let me know what ya have available. Thanks

You could talk all day about the pipes available for the triple Mach Z's, but I will always recommend Dynoports. Others may guide you towards the JAWS pipes, but I don't like how high they rev your motor.

The JAWS pipes require you to send out your CDI to have it adjusted because of the rev limiters in the 99+ triple Mach Z's. You would be fine with the '98 I believe.

Like I said the Dynoport's rev around 8400 I believe and I will always recommend them.

I have a 2000 Mach Z, I've had one other in the past and I love them. Pipes, Reeds, Head Cut, 25 tooth gear, and there a strong running sled.

It's an entire new league now though, these turbo'd 4 strokes are just at an entire differant level. Unless you've got an endless wallet, and a kit motor.

I still love the triples, always will.

I have Dynoport Pipes, VFORCE III Reeds, Head Cut, and 192 1.075 Woody's Traction Master Chisel Tooth's andi there isn't alot of sleds with bolt ons that can run with me.

Just use the stock pipes off a 99, That's what I did. Makes changing plugs a lot easier.

I've used Dynoport pipes on my 98 Mach 1 and Mach Z, I think they are great pipes and the people at Dynoport are very helpfull with any questions. I picked up both sets of pipes off e-bay for around $350.00 and seen a few more sets on there since then.

I had Dyno ports on my 98 and it worked great between getting stators/cdi's/and wiring harnesses fixed.

Saying the 99 and up pipes are better wouldnt actually be totally accurate I also have a 98 mach and went through the same thing. The 98 pipes actually make more hp if you can keep them hot. usually you will get better performance on the second run if you do 2 back to back runs. The 99 and newer pipes are easier to work with and require some adjustments. they need the timing advanced 5 degrees and the jets changed. thats what i put on my sled but if you can afford dynoports thats the way to go

Making a statement about the dynoports "will work" isn't all ways "right"..... I do have a set that will fit a ck3 chassis and tried to make these pipes "work" in the hills this winter... above 7000 feet..... They don't like altitude. The pipes I think will work most of the time for people that just want to bolt on and go. At 6000 feet the pipes are totally different animal. I think with more pressure down low and better air to fill the pipes I wouldn't run away from dynoport just don't expect them to work at altitude.

Anybody want to trade for a set of crankshop or jaws?

I have a set of stock 99 pipes with a dynoport silencer and the stock muffler. They have some dents and the rubber pieces that keep them from rubbing together are missing on a couple of them If any one is interested let me know

Have you tried reducing the stinger diamenter?

keep the 98 pipes and keep em hot before your pass or orun keep them warm .. in the real world they work great when you re runnin wide open across that four mile lake the heat uilds and the 98 pipe gets better and everyone else is falling off . if your kick is short 500 ft or 1000 ft runs maybe change pipes like your talkin about but i loved my old 98 . 126-130mph. no motor work ,stock pipes,.75 lug mxzx track, balanced drives, and 46 degree teflon helix(hrp). good luck i just bought 2000 mach z myself to add to the stable and play with.

I put 00 pipes on my 98 Z and prefer them over the 98 pipes but IMO aftermarket is the way to go. The Dyno ports I have on my 99 Z are hands down better pipes than both stock systems ... besides a boost in hp they have an even broader power band than the 99 & up pipes, decent fit and finish, greatly improve rave, plug and chaincase accessibility plus they shave a ton of weight (all three pipes probably weigh about the same as one stocker).
