Hey guys. The "check engine" light has came on my '08 renegade 600 Sdi. I booked an appointment at the dealer for next Tuesday, that's the earliest they could get me in. Is it safe to use it like this or not? It's having the 4beeps when the light initially comes on, and will only rev to 7000 rpm. Should I avoid using it or not? Thanks!

check your fuses if you have them,,, i had the same thing on both my 800r s and it seems to limit the rpm too,,, put in a new fuse and it resets then good ,,, the fuse blows if you groung out heated sheild wire,,,, or tail light

Check the electrical connection (plug) on the magneto side injector. Apparently some were shipped without silicon dielectric compound and it causes the alarm. The dealer repaired mine and I have not had an alarm in 1000 miles. On mine, the diagnostics computer indicated a problem with that injector circuit. The plug is very hard to work on as it is directly under the jack shaft. It has a pull tether on it to help release the connector....probably best left to the dealer to take care of under warrantee.

Riverdriver is right on, I was at the dealer over the weekend in Colebrook and there was 2 sleds there having the same issue and was told it was the wires chafe on the case from the missing silicone for the wires.
