ok i know ive posted a few things about this, but i just keep having more problems. Here's the list, engine light comes on everytime i start it, and will eventually go away, my dealer hasn't told me anything about that, never seen 100mph out of it and now i barely see 80 cause i put an 1.5in ripsaw on it, but still 600cfi switchbacks pull a way bigger track than that. Also it will barely hit 8000 rpm and that is if i slam it to the bar, it wont go above 7300(mostly around 7-7100) when im going above 55. I'm putting a 22 tooth top gear hopefully that helps. It has always felt under powered. Im going to do some clutch work next sunday too, so that will help. Now this is pne that is just getting on my nerves. I cleaned my power valves at about 1200 miles and they were way worse than or sdi's at 4000miles. So i decided after about a 60 mile ride to check them and they were as bad as at 1200miles, then cleaned them and tonight pulled them out after 30 miles and again they were terrible. Finally, my biggest complaint is that since i got the reflash at about 500miles i havent seen more than 7mpg(10-12 consistantly pre-flash). I know a lot of you guys had problems, but this is crazy. I mean doo is even talking the gas milage on their boards, claiming the 600 cfi at 14(cough 5-7 cough)
Sorry i just had to vent

you got soome major problems and it sound more then something little. its engine for sure not just clutching. im thinking first soemting is wrong with the reflash they did, get it dont again. second how is the compression? could have problems there. also check to see if you got exhaust leaks. you got someting more wrong then just clutching and gearing.

already had mine reflashed twice, but ill check compression, and my sled isnt louder, but it does smoke excessivly when you shut it down, also my engine service light is on when i start it, flashes 5 times then goes away, doesnt do it everytime i start it? Also i was flipping through my owners manual and ive never replaced a fuel or oil filter in a sled, but my dad probly has, but i should probably look into that too 1500miles on my sled

Sounds ike you may have exhaust valve issues ? Exhaust valves that are not opening will drop your rpm's and mpg's . Check your compression and oil pump arm for proper movement too. get the codes read at a dealer who knows what he's doing. Still under warranty ?

I see you live near me,I bought my 07cfi at mqt powersports and had the re flash done and it runs great. Im a bit dissapointed with mileage being around 12 normally but I did get 15 once riding real easy with my wife to big bay. Now I have some clutching and a slp ehaust and Im pulling 8100 rpms and its a rocket.@500 miles on mine and Ive never even checked my powervalves.Im running amsoil interceptor also at 7.95 a quart.

Just a service reminder light, not a fault/code light. Set at the factory for every 50 hours as a service reminder. Doesn't effect the way it runs at all...............

Your not ever supposed to change the oil filter on your sled... They last forever! One less thing you have to worry about.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO FIND A NEW DEALER BECAUSE 95% + OF THESE SLEDS FLY.MAYBE NOT UP TO PAR ON THE FUEL MILEAGE BUT NO WORSE THAN ANY CARB SLED I HAVE OWNED.
sledhead1984
I had a 03 xc sp 500 that was rebiult and ran like shit, i went through the whole sled found nothing, cleaned the power valves and found that one of the springs inside the housing was sideways, fixed the sled.

My check engine light would flash 5 times then go off, but it would do it while riding, if thats tha case..check the plugs going from the Exhaust temp sensor, they are down on the lower left front of the engine compartment........mine were both loose. From what I've readon here, it retards the timing when the sensor goes bad or is unplugged. Mine is in for the reflash as we speak but they are also putting a new sensor in just in case. Check that, though, it may be the problem.

If you read the owners manual you can reset it in about 3 seconds and another 3 you can bump up the service interval.....

After changing to a deeper lug track you need to set up your clutch's spring and weight to adjust for the extra rotating mass. Unfortunatly I'm still somewhere in the learning curve and I have a Switchback so my clutch set up would be useless to you. You need to talk to an experienced Polaris 600 Sled Head who knows his shit. That's what I did and we'll see how it works out next week in Revy.
IQ600cfi
well im taking it to a local guy who is really good with clutches sunday, he has had doos, cats and polarises, so he should be able to figure something that works (hopefully)
woodman
check your power valves.

I had the same check engine flashing as you my dealer change the temp sensor in the pipe and it never came back. My sled was also not reving. Around 7300-7400 all the time. They found a bushing that was coming out of one of the sheave of the primary clutch. They install a new clutch now it's reving 8300 rpm all the time. Hope it might help!!
