I blew a belt on the weekend and that has not happened to me since 1981.
I should of put on a new belt at the start of the season, but it looked good to me at the time. I should of picked one up and have as a spare.
But in any case this has not happened in years.
I guess these new sled have some muscle and the belt manufacture have not kept up with times.
What gives?
Cheers

How many miles? Have 3000 miles on my sled with no belt issues. Put on new belt at 2000 miles even though it looked good and had little wear just because it seemed like I should. Check your belt deflection and clutch alignment. Might also check to see if the clutches are hot after a little agressive riding. If there is something like an engine mount or torque stop defective it could cause excessive clutch and belt heat.

Probably a 1080 right, go with one of the upgrade belts, the 1115 is what I switched too, it's much stronger and will take more abuse. I think the 1111 is another one people use. Some people will tell you not use them because the rob power, I never noticed any difference. My sled would show 100 on the speedo before and the first time out with the 1115 it actually showed 101.

I have about 1900 miles, and I bought the sled with 1400 ms, and I ride trail most of the time, don't race or go in deep snow.
I have check deflection, aligment.
will put on a stck polaris again and see what i get out of it.

I'f I get 1000 miles out of a belt I have no complaints. Had a diffrent sled that would rip a cord out ever 300 miles, that sucks, and very expensive. Not to mention it destroys the clutch guard sometimes, and could damage crank.

I think this all related to mild condition, we have been riding with OAT around -5 to plus 2 Deg C.
Lets see what i get out of the new replacement.
Thanks for the feedback.

I put 3100 miles on the original belt and now its on my belt guard as my spare. It still looks real good. I bet i could have gotten 5000 out of it. I ride pretty hard too. Needless to say i am happy with the belt wear on mine. Put a 080 back on it.

And that would be a polaris belt?
If so, then i will buy Polaris and time will tell.

Proper break in of belt ,abuse all play a factor in how many miles you
can get on one, proper maintance of clutches so many factors.

ABSOLUTLY.
I look after all the above, and it all looks good. Like i said before, I am the second owner and If the prevous owner did not breakin the belt and did not allow the sled to warm up on initial start of the day ect... All that will shorten the life of the belt.
This took me by suprise since my other sleds do good mileage on belts. But time will tell, I should do well on the replacement.

2100 miles on the original belt, looked as if it would blow at any time when I removed it. I replaced it with the 2122 belt and I am very impressed with the way it backshifts now. Clutches have never worked this good before.

Wash your hands if they are dirty before touching belt or clutches.

I've never blown a belt on any sled. We replace them at the beginning of every season regardless of miles. We typically do around 2000 miles a year.
