did a quick search here, couldnt really find much
is this what they call the carb boot?

can i just hi temp silicone the edges back on, or do they need to be replaced?

it is only starting to peel on the one, the other one is fine

CHANGE it out, both of them or you will do a engine rebuild .

X2 .....Don't even ride it until you change them or you'll be doing the whole engine, it will suck air, lean out & kill the pistons & cylinders and when it locks up you'll be lucky if you don't break a rod and take out the bottom end too !!

My 2002 summit is doing a very similar thing I just overhauled the engine and it dose not aper to be causing any air leak it seams to be an outer layer and it dose not cause the inner layer to crack I would call your local dealer to confirm. mine started to do this with only 500 miles on it I think it is just a place that the rubber dose not adhere well.

Get new ones. Skidoo had a problem with the carb boots from 03-06. They fixed them in 07. So when you do buy new ones you should talk to your dealer about getting the 07 boots to help you prevent another problem like this.
just my .02 cents

Change them and Change them NOW or just as the other have said you will be doing a motor rebuild. They are not cheap though plan to spend $120-$140 for a set of them. Still cheaper than a rebuild.

Did I say Change them NOW!!

It's a typical Doo problem, contact The Crank Shop for some better quality boots.
