RACER USA
It seems like there are all types of opinions when it comes to set-up. For lake racing what is the best setup for the front and the rear. PLease be very specific. The way I understand it is to tighten the timiter straps to compress the suspension so it is compressed and a lower profile. But the front skid spring to I compress the spring or let it out? The way I understand it is to lenghthen the spring by spinning the lock collar father down right?

The easiest way to drop the front might be to find either chain, or a used set of limiter straps and pull the front end down. A lot of guys do this for temporary suspension drops. Maybe someone will chime in exactly how to do this. On my ZRT I have lowering springs in the front, so it is permanently sitting low. (see pics). It hooks up very well with hardly any ski lift.

For the rear, I would tighten the limiter straps as tight as they will go.

But what do I do with the front spring in the skid, adjust the collar up for a tighter spring or adjust the collar down for a longer spring.
This is a trail sled that I ride to and fro to the lake, just looking for something simple so I can hold my own better than the last time I raced

I have a converted suspension I might sell, it is a stock skid that has had the shocks shortened with spacers. THat made a huge difference, but I also paired it with a chisel track grinning-smiley-023.gif. I bet it would help on its own. I am installing my Whal now, so this will be sitting around.

Thats ok im just looking for a little bit of a change for this weekend

I would say to tie down the front end and loosen the limiter straps. If that doesn't work good tighten the straps. That is an adjustment you can make on the fly at the truck. Definately tie down the front. If you do that the back end has to pull hard to get the skies up and the weight will transfer there better. I messed with the limiter straps and never got any good results, I have heard tightne them and loosen them. It seems like loosen for weight transfer, whcih is what you want.

Thats what is confusing, local racers have told me to tighten the straps to help prevent excessive wheeling. But I forgot what they said to do with the front skid shock. Spin the lock collar down for more spring extension or spin it up for to compress the spring. Obviously its trial for error for every combination. Id like to get some opinions on what works for others

I am talking about your front shocks. Use cables to lower the whole front end and hold it down (compress the front shocks). DOnt; even mess with the skid shocks. Loosen the limiter straps, and tie down the front end. That is my opinion.
