On my 96' xcr there were two bolts with nuts and special washers that gripped the seat, you had to hold the nut with a wrench inside the rear storage compartment, and turn the bolt from inside the tunnel. On the newer ones there is only bolts. Can't remember what the 90' Indy 500 had but I would guess it would be bolts with nuts like the XCR. Your storm has to be one of those.

i dont know about yours specifically but some of the polaris' i have worked on have had screws going in from the tunnel and the tank and seat came off as one unit

I think you are right about that, the storm might have had the one piece tank/seat asm. They had the filler in the center, and no seam in the cover between the seat and the tank. I've never had one of those off.

First thing is to remove the cable at the front of the gas tank. Next you remove the 2 nuts tucked up under the tunnel next to the mud flap. Then when you have the gas line removed and wires for gas guage ( if you have electric guage ) you can lift rear of the seat and unhook the wires for tail lights. Now the seat will slide back and can be removed. flag_usa.gif
