A friend of mine picked up his new switchback last Thursday from the dealer. We headed to the UP to try it out in the powder. We made it 2 miles out of town and then it died. No spark or injectors. Took it to dealer and they could not find anything obvious, said they would have to call Polaris. Polaris said they have seen stators fail immediately on the 600's and to replace the stator. Has anyone else had this problem? Obviously he is very nervous now about the reliability of his new sled.

I could be wrong, so don't take it as gospel or anything, but I think somebody just brought something like this up the other day. You may want to do a search.

If I remember right they said they had the same problem (no spark, low miles) and were told the same thing (stator failure).

Thanks for the link to the other site. It looks like there may be a problem with the stators according to the responses over there. I will update this post after he hears from the dealer.
Thanks again.

Hey everyone, this is my sled my friend is talking about. Just updated my original post under the Switchback forum. Probably really should have been put here since it was not a Switchback issue but a Motor issue.

Anyhow, the dealer put on a new stator. I requested to see the old one. A white wire was pinched completely flat. Based on the link to PolarisFiles, looks like could be for the crank position sensor. I took it out on the side roads near my home for about 10 miles or so. It only lasted 3.7 up North.

Hopefully this is now all taken care of. Thanks again.
