The passenger hand warmers on my ’98 Venture 600 provide little, if any, heat. The front handlebar warmers work just fine. After doing some checking with my voltmeter, I found the following:
1. Voltage for these heaters is actually AC (took me a while to figure out why no DC readings).
2. At idle, the rear hi/low heater switch gets roughly 10 volts.
3. Rear heater elements are in series. I measure 10 volts across both elements (right and left) at idle. Each element measures 5 volts.
I’m now stumped. Circuitry seems to measure just fine, but no heat from either element. This circuit also feeds the taillights, which work just fine. Anyone else experienced this before?

same problem on my '03. Thanks for the info on the AC instead of DC, I will have to look into that.
Anyone else?
