Al's screwed up. Two digits were wrong as well as the year. The problem is that KBB has a $300 difference between the 01 and 02. So I overpaid ( although I did get a good deal, just not as good as I thought ) and have papers that are close but still wrong. Now I have to bring the sled to DMV, get the CT reg straightened out, fix the insurance, VT reg corrected, and pray that my town tax dept doesn't royally screw things up when the VIN numbers are corrected.
This seems to be common. My friend has a 96 Grand Touring, and his numbers are wrong also. I dont know how much of a problem it would be if my papers were checked on the trails, or if I had to put a claim in with the insurance company. Either way, its a Pain in the azz.
The moral is, BUYING USED.....CHECK THE VIN NUMBERS BEFORE HANDING OVER THE CASH!
