Headed North. Can anyone suggest a good itinerary for two days? Where should we plan to stay overninght?

Thanks for your help!

I would suggest riding from Pittsburg to Thetford mines and back...most of the snow in Quebec is north and east ths year as many of the recent past. Straight shot to Thetford Mines is about 130-140 miles which leaves room to explore a little along the way and have some fun. I stay at the Balmoral in Thetford Mines...not fancy but clean...resturant & bar on property and within walking distance to another resturant and a strip club should you have the urge!

They have inside lockup for your sleds overnite...I use it and suggest others do as well.

i'd head towards St Georges or Thetford depenidng on conditions, hug the east side of Lac Megantic as the snow conditions will most likely be better then those on the other side. It's funny but that area just north fo NH/VT border can have no snow when Pittsburg has a ton then once you get to the 0other side of St Georges it gets deep again.

Agreed.
Many have had bad things happen in that area that didn't take advantage of a lockup.

I was just over the border from Pittsburg...everything is good...the only thin spots are the usual fields that get blown off. The only problems with the Quebec trails this year is the rivers are not frozen...you will not have any problems with rivers on the way to Thetford Mines or St Georges. I just prefer the trails up in Thetford over the St Georges area...Thetford has a lot less traffic!

Going west 'tward Sawyerville is still a little thin and scratchy...but do-able.

One thing to remember...the requirements to re-enter the US have changed...you now need a drivers license AND your birth certificate, or naturization papers or a passport. Going into Canada is easy...getting home is a little more difficult!

I stopped up at the Canadian crossing in Jackman, Maine a few weeks ago and stopped in and spoke to my fellow brothers in homeland security. The deal is this. You do need the license and birth certificate BUT, at the same time, they cannot stop an american citizen from re-entering the good ole USA. They may hold you up a little bit while they check you out, but they cannot deny you entry. Of course, things will go more smoothly with the license and certificate

You need your license in your posession just to be legally riding a snowmobile...and if you want a smooth entry, without delays and unnecessary work for the border patrol, you should have a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship. The requirements just changed as of the 31st of January. Eventually you will need a passport or the border ID card. I would think that everyone should want these policies to make us safe in our own country! Then again...if you're an a-hole...
