On Saturday, we decided to head south since so far this year Snowcruiser's trails have never disapointed us. Left Westmore, took 5 south, had to clear some brances and trees, to 51 to 151 to 15A, (lots of snow smooth trails and more low branches) to lunch at the Walden Store, (good food, service a little on the slow side). Then continued down to the RR bed, (stopped by the police looking at regs and proof of insurance.) Headed east to 5/2, a little thin in some places until we reached higher elevations. Caught up to the Caledonia groomer (nice!) then turned off to 54 (freshly groomed). Gased up in E. Burke then took 52 (lots of deer) to 53 (saw a moose) to 51 then in West Burke took 5s to 114 through Newark, some stutter bumps, then 58 to 5 (first tracks on groomed trail!) back to Westmore. 160 miles. Overall trails were great.

I did part of the same but in reverse. Left Averill at 9:00am to IP through Newark to Danville. Lot's of trees bent from ice that had to be weaved around (as soon as the ice melts they should spring back up). 114 was super, Danville end was rough until the rail bed. Cabot was rough on 15B (shouldn't have been on 15B anyway) but Hardwick was good. Craftsbury was rough and then Eden was good.

Rode to Averill from Eden Friday in the sleet. Interesting riding with ice on your shield....heated shields didn't help either. Six of us got 320 miles up and back.

It's open from Uncle Bill's south. I don't know about north, didn't bother to check as I wasn't headed that way. Small change from last year just east of Uncle Bill's but the rest of the trail is in great shape.

Thanks byb. Vermonsterxc600, VTrider, and myself are planning a trip to my brother's camp in Victory.....heading east on one route and back west on another route. If Eden, going east is open, it it allows us to not to have to go clear up through Montgomery Ctr.

Thanks again,

SB
