I need to get a new sled for next year. Im not sure if i should get a yami or a 440. I really like the phazers and 06-07 nytros but idk how well theyll hold up compared to a 440 for me. Have you guys bent or broken anything on the frame or suspensions?? What have you had go wrong on your phazers or nytros, or vectors for that matter?? I tend to beat the shit out of my sled so im leaning towards a 440 but im not sure yet. Any suggestions?

No problems to date on 05 vector except 2 inner idler wheels that the bearings went out on. Other than that they take one hell of an ass whooping...I did upgrade to Nytro torsion springs and center spring to stiffen the ass end up. The weight will take some getting used to for ya coming off an f5 or compared to a 440. Sounds like the new style nytro would fit your riding style better...

I like the 06-07 Nytro's and also the 2009 Yamaha Fx Nytro XTX!

I want to buy another sled for my wife/backup for me for next season. With my SRX, I have the speed factor filled & it's great handling on the trails. I want a lower powered sled that my wife would be comfotable on & I can use to "throw around" & goof off with...dithchin', hitting the trailside whoops & bowls...maybe even a little off trail. I was thinking a Phaser w/136 & 1.75" track or so. I love their radical design & power/weight specs for what we want. I been reading as much as I can about them in a bunch of forums here, TY,etc..

From what I've read I was very dissappointed in the comments. I'll save you the reading for yourself, because there is just too much to list that is wrong. Granted a first year design of any manufacturer will have some issues...but WTF? It's like they desgned it, produced it & shipped it & left out the real world testing. IMO the consumers should not be the test dummies. Again you can say any sled has issues, but come on. Why wouldn't the tunnel icing issue be dealt with & eliminated in the first couple of test runs? Or the rounded out bushings/sloppy front end parts...that's just piss poor engineering & boarderline neglect on their part.. How easy would it be to beef it up...maybe actually install grease fittings to critical wear parts (no,let's just let them wear out so we can sell more parts). I could go on...the rear shocks blowing, too soft springs, etc.

Bottom line I would expect more from a company that's been in the business for 40 years. They should know by now the fundamental requirements to make a sled safe & last. That = a happy & loyal consumer. This sled would be fun for just about any type of rider, but power to price is really aimed at a beginning market. Is this what you want your first time sled buyer to experience?

I've seen comments that people love them, but admit they need alot of tlc & maintenance to keep them going. That's what you do to a 6,7+ year old $2000 sled...not a brand new $6-$7K sled. Their price point is good considering the outragous prices of things today. Too bad that doesn't get you piece of mind to go out & just enjoy yourself on the trails.

I read alot of sled specific forums to learn about the indusrty as a whole...I've yet to see so much negative feed back about a sled fromactual owners. They said the 08's had the probs fixed...a little too early to see yet.

I'm still holding out that the 09 models will have directly addressed the issues...they OWE that to the Yami loyals.

Sorry for the rant/stealing your thread. If I were you, I'd do alot of reading before buying a 07 Phaser.

I went from a rev 440 to a 07 nytro. The 440 was better in the powder, 1.5intense vs 1.25 ripsaw track. It was also better at jumping. The nytro does need a shock revalve for hard riding and jumping. Overall it is a better trail sled, 17 mpg vs 7, no oil to mess with, little more storage, pulls real hard, can be better in the powder with a better powder track but the weight is still their. And its newer and easier to find some leftovers or better condition used sleds. It really depends on your riding style and more so the type of riding. The 440's should hold up better, they are designed for it. A lot of people say they need a 440, they ride real hard or beat their sleds. They really do not need a 440. If you look at zx 440 watch for cracked frames, rev 440's look for bent nuns.
