As posted earlier we held our 2nd MTRC Ride-Away in Watersmeet, MI. We only had about 18 people. 3 of us went up last Sunday and backpacked it. We rode from Watersmeet to Houghton Monday, Houghton to Copper Harbor to Houghton Tuesday, Houghton to Watersmeet Wednesday. The weather was good till Tuesday then it got freaking cold. Minus 6 with windchill minus 36 and blowing making it blizzard conditions. The trip was interesting in open areas but pretty good in between the trees. We made it back and the rest of the group was slowly coming in. We left Thursday towards Bergland. A little less than a mile past the turn for the Root Cellar, sled problems. Originally thought I busted the chain in the chaincase. Get towed to the Root Cellar and hang out there. The rest of the gang comes in later and my ride back to the casino comes in. Get her loaded up later Thursday and come home Friday. Two days early. Take it up to the shop. We take it apart and lo and behold...the bearings on the clutch side went bad and the driveshaft broke. I'm sure as hell glad that didn't happen when we were backpacking. That would've really sucked. Like I said...was fun while it lasted.
make sure you replace the bearings with NTN BLUESIDED SEALED RACING BEARINGS.......all around and you'll be a happy camper.....got pics? vid? don't leave us hangin for gods sake
