Well I just wrote off my 2005 600SDI Renegade so it looks like I'm in the market for a new sled. I have always been a Doo guy but back in 2003 when I went looking for an ATV I bought a 500 Polaris Sportsman and have been totally impressed by this machine. I figure now is the time to go 4 stroke in a sled and the FST switchback is the only thing that really impresses me. I'd like some feed back from anyone that has an 08 as I figure there should be good deals come this spring........

I have an 06 FST and I love it, And I have heard nothing but good things on the 08 FST. This machine has lotsa power and you are going to love the no smoke.

Just my .02 cents

I just picked one up yesterday! Although I only put 2 miles on it all my questions I had are answered! It does have some giddy up! I was easy on her but will post more when I get some ore miles on it. From what I can tell this is the sled I was looking for!

Check my posts on this sled here and on polarisfiles and see some of the other responses I got. They helped me make my mind up, that and some of the good people on here and polarisfiles pm'ing me and giving me info, they were a big help.

Thanks for the reply's guys. The 08 if I'm correct has a 136" track which would suit my riding style better than the 144". Are they heavy to steer which is one of my biggest concerns.....
Rastiss
Im coming off a 900 fusion and it was relativly haevy steering. I hope to put a few miles on tonight and I will give a comparison in the morning. I only have 2.4 miles on it so im not sure yet.

My 06 has had all the updates. Still a little heavy on the steering and could use some Powder Pro's. Great all around power. The best quote i heard was " It pulls like a freight train" Love it!!

Well i managed a whole 10 miles last night. Had to take the kids for a ride on dads new sled. rockernana.gif

The steering is way lighter than my old fuzer, actually impressed with it for the weight of the machine. The wife rode it for a bit last night and really liked it, she hated my fusion so that says something! It seems to handle and ride incrediable. I did notice it push in fluffy or loose snow but on packed trails it fine. I have yet to be on a groomed trail and have not adjusted any thing yet so take it for what its worth.

The FST is the best kept secret in the buisness.....
This sled runs great , is fast, and all the bodys for riding styles...
The 07 Switchback is on the top of the need to have list, if you want a little heavy duty ride then the 08 136 verson..
If you need to haul around 270+ lbs, then the LX..with the m-10
If you just want to give all the 7's,8's & 9's all they want anywhere in the trails then IQ 121" Dragon..
Just deal with a local dealer that is into the 4 stroke buisness...
A dealer that is not up on the FST motor can make the unit have very bad days..

I was looking for a fst switchback, but ended up finding a deal on an '06 fst classic that I couldn't pass up... I bought it from an 70 year old man.. it has 73 miles on it.. 15.9 hours... all the updates have been done... I haven't ridden it yet, but its snowing now... :-)

I have a buddy who has an 08 FST SB and apparently in 08 the sled has 160 hp for the first 6 seconds then goes back to 140 hp afterwards. He just recently raced it at the local drags and won the 5 , 6 , and 700 stock classes as well. The races were 1000 ft long uphill drags. It was the quickest out of the hole but quicker over came any competition including some quick F7's.

how are the fst switchbacks in the deeper snow for tipping them? or for sidehilling. can you stand on one board and pull them flat to go across the face of a hill fairly easy? in the flat deep hard snow can you get them to tip and turn pretty easy?

Madcow ; You will notice the weight when sidehilling and carving but they will do it pretty darn good. Mine is an 06 switch with 151 2" paddle. Powder skis are a must!!! Where it really shines is that it doesn't lose any power at elevation. A sled that will run with me here in Iowa won't even be close at 10,000 ft. There are a few weight saving things that can be done but other than the weight, these sleds are great in the mountains. Bodyman

I Love it for the most part!
Pro's- FST gas milage(I've gotten a best of 21 imp MPG and a low of 16mpg), Power! torque monster! and torgue is what gets you going or that feel of pulling not HP and this thing had LOTS of torque! 120foot pound can't be wrong!
Top speed spanks everything cept older tipples. My speedo showed 104 after adding the MBRP exhaust and the darn thing is only geared for 101. So I would say that's spot on.
I LOVE the RIDE! I usually have the GF on board with me and it rides like a dream! Even the seat is ok for day trips.
I added 8inch carbide up front with a Ice ripper track. Both work great to add in handling.
I Zeroed in the ski's toe and aliened it with the track and the machine is now handling so much better I only need to use one hand to steer unless I get aggressive in the corners.
Also added Xenon lights and the middle Projector beam! I can now see just as well at night as in the day time. No need to worry about over driving your headlight.
I actually love the hot foot wells! And the hot running boards! My feet never get cold and it's nice when the temp dips down to -20 C.

Cons- Needed the taller windshield of 16.5inch (it should have came with it and I see the 09 do), My hands and my chest were freezing Until I got the taller windshield. The stock slides melted after 80miles on hard parked snow. So I got graphite ones and an extra set of wheels. Needs more storage! I added a set of bags to help. The alternator is not big enough to handle the out put of the brighter lights when the hand warmers are on high also. It drains the battery and makes the engine work more and use a little more fuel. So I usually turn down the hand warmer or turn off the high beam projector before I get back as once I had to boost the battery once. Before I figured out what was wrong. Everything checked out at the dealer too. He too said it needed a bigger amp alternator.

I bought the FST known it was going to be a long term sled in my garage grinning-smiley-023.gif I have 3 at all times. A touring, Sport short track and a Crossover. The FST reminds me of the way my old 96 XLT road. Super Smooth!
