Just wondering what other clubs are doing, are the groomer drivers being paid? or is it all volunteer time that they are donating? The people who sign the trails are all volunteer.. Just wondering because this is a problem the local clubs are having..Everyone works during the day, so grooming is done during the wee hrs. of the morning...and being a volunteer only lasts so long before the novelty wears off...

Agree with you on the fact of club volunteer burn out, the Calling lakes Cruisers from Fort Qu'Appelle have approx. 20-30 family memberships, down from over 110 since 2000. Our club pays our operators $10/hr, and for that matter anyone who volunteers to sign, clean trail, etc. we pay $10/hr as well, or some members will just take a tank of gas for using their sleds. For the most part, the volunteers will donate their time, but it's the same hardcore members doing the majority of the work. russian_roulette.gif

Same thing happening in Melville as far as member decline. I have haven't been paid to run the the groomer yet, but our club has now agreed to pay the operator if we do any custom grooming. Sounds like we are finally going to start grooming in the next day or two. We got snow with this last storm, just not sure where it stopped.
