Did you use a new genuine Mikuni needle and seat? The aftermarket generic ones are crappy like that.

Needle and seat are 1.5mm,not sure if genuine Mikuni, but I got it from Polaris dealership.Jet needle # 6F9,Needle Jet #P8 (VM38)
I tried swapping in the centre needle & seat (good one from the centre carb),but still leaked down quickly, not holding the pressure for any duration of time(in either of the other carbs/one really quickly><the other moderately quick).
My service manual stated could be the gaskets(on the n&s) so I have some ordered, not sure if that will remedy the leaking,so not sure of what else to try.
The machine is supposedly an'89 Polaris(Triple),but 600 on the heads,"no such thing" as per other friend, service manual searches.
Friends say motor is '84-'87,regardless,I want to fix this for the other friend.Thanx.

may sound wierd, but try rebuilding fuel pump.my 92 500 had same problem.took apart pump, found nothing wrong, cleaned and installed new kit ,no more problem.cheap fix and worth a shot for 10-12 bucks.good luck

Try a set of "Viton tipped N&S's.
