Left the rec center in Chestser sunday morning. We took 12 all the way up to Plymouth, and it was great. Thin in the pine stands, but great otherwise. I thought about turning west into Coolidge park, but I didn't want to take RT 7 all the way back down again. It gets so much traffic....so we headed east on C4/12, then south on 106. 106 was thin, but smooth, and its a good trail. Once we got back into Cavendish, we took 127 over to Ludlow, and this is where the ride headed downhill.
Ludlow is thin, and looked like its had a lot of traffic. Once we climbed some elevation, heading through Proctorsville, into Belmont, the snow got better and better. The trails were a little rough, but I think its because there was a lot of traffic on them. (It was getting around noon, at this point) In Belmont, we headed south on 7. We wanted to turn onto RT 12....However, there is a "TO RT 12" type of trail that you take off 7 - but when you get to the turn that actually puts you on 12, its unmarked. These trails were too bad at this point, so no big deal.
Down into Weston to get gas, and take 12 back into Chester.
DO NOT TAKE THIS ROUTE. From the gas station on auto RT100, all the way to the Chester trails is one of the worst trails I've been on in a long time. Snow cover is low, but in a lot of places, its a 4ft trail, rocks, brooks, trees - its a tough trail.
100 miles for the day. Chester, amazing job. Signs, groomed, snow cover - Chester has it all right now. Reading, Cavendish, Proctorsville, Plymouth, trails are in great shape, and signed very well. Ludlow, the best signing I've seen. Nice work. The trails were thin, but I think that might be out of your control....
