I was riding with a few people on the powerline just outside of Norton, near EX36. We headed up the loooong straightaway and someone in my group, unfamiliar with the trail, missed the corner at the top just before it goes into the woods to the junction. cussing.gif Anyway, the corner had no signs or anything. Myself, very familiar with the trails, almost missed it as well. I saw that there was quite a few tracks headed into the Willy wacks. Anyway, I will be sending an email to Cannan Border Riders.

On the brighter side of things, we did 100 miles of Excellent riding in the NEK. I guess thats why it is in the top ten list of best places to ride. buttrock.gif

Oh ya, was there any HCS'ers that went by while we were staking Derby Pond? frantics.gif

The powerline is hairy place to ride especially when there is snow drifts on the trail.

Marking the DC Line is an ongoing chore. Posts and signs are put in place, moose, riders & groomers take their toll on some of them. The CT Valley Sno-Riders and Lunenburg Polar Bears have recently picked up the trail maintainence on the 102A and 102 trails under the DC Line south of EX42 to south of EX682. Please be patient as driving stakes in the frozen ground is a challenge at this time of year.

I am pretty sure that this is the Canaan Border Riders section. Anyway, you are right, it is hard to pound stakes this time of year.

Gader, know the corner well, so didn't miss it! This is Donald's first year grooming, and he's experiencing learning curves with grooming & signing! Saw your group in Pidgeons around lunchtime. Didn't see your fathers Mach outside, did he trade that already?

There was a few turn that I nearly went off trail this weekend on 105E and 96S. Its seems weird how the trails were marked, there would be a hair pin turn sign for a small easy turn but then nothing for the sharp turn after a 65mph straight away. Not sure if it would be better to not have signs at all for turns this way I would be looking a lot harder for the turn instead of becoming reliant on the signs. Either way most of the hairpins after the straightways have allot of room to slow down and then turn around.

Gader I think I know where your talking about. If there's deep snow can make it across and hook back up with the main trail? If it is alway's thought that part of the trail should go straight. Its a nasty right hand turn. It used to be marked with one sign, but got taken out by something maybe they need a couple signs.

We got out very early Saturday morning (6am) the fresh snow and groomed trails were the best. I couldn't help but notice how many people missed turns. Like several differant places. Thinking to myself holy crap that one must of hurt, skinned trees and all.

We didn't see you actually posting Derby Pond, but we did see your work. All I could do was smile and think your going for best signed trails again. You got my vote....

I noticed the same thing and on some corners the arrows were pointed the wrong way. i almost missed a few anticipating turning one way and then having to turn the other then it did seem that on the worst ones they just didnt feel like putting signs up. the riding was great though!

Ya I didnt miss it... barely... Donald is the guy that owns the Pidgeon right? He does a great job grooming... I was unaware that the groomers did the signing.

He's still got the Mighty Mach and he loves it. Nothings been able to beat him yet!

I was driving the club snowmobile and my brother was on the dogsled with the stakes. We def need more snow, but we are doing our best to flatten out what we have.

Last thursday I noticed on trail 106c just beyond EX112 heading south, a set of snowmobile tracks went off the trail and fell about 8ft into a ravine. It must have been one hell of crash!I hope he or she is ok.

Yes he is. I wasn't aware the groomers signed either, but he was carrying a whole slew of them on the drag. Said he was trying to get them all up. I think he's been a little overwhelmed by the whole process!

Holy crap did you see those marks, if its where I'm thinking someone missed the bridge entirly. My kid was leading and stopped to make sure I saw them. He suggusted more signage for that turn? I suggested slow down a bit. Only one of a bunch missed turns we noticed.

Gotta use the attachment on the leftside of the handlebars once in a while!!!!

I ride Canaan a lot (30+ years) and this years signage is the weakest I have seen in years (not to criticize but).
