well, went sledding yesterday (actual sledding, not snowmobiling) and dislocated my shoulder. first time i've been in about 10 yrs, and that's what i get. oh well... we all thought it was broke (including an on site nurse) so i guess i can consider myself very lucky! it was a relief when the x-rays came back!
guess i won't be doing any snowmobiling OR ice fishing for awhile... need to wear my sling for three weeks. wonder how long it will be sore?

Shoulder injuries are tough... I still feel mine 4 years later. X-rays don't show enough, you'll be needing an MRI in an attempt to find soft tissue damage. If you are lucky, the damage to tissues will be minor and it will be a quick heal. This season is done.... sorry.

Hey,
Sorry to hear about that !!
I hope that you recover soon.
Are you still able to write checks ?.
I have exceeded the fuel allotment for the mule and I have purchased $60.00 so far from my own pocket.
Take it easy,

lefty here too, dislocated my right shoulder skiing 3 years ago. it took a good 4 months before every little tweak and ounce of pain went away completely. keep that shoulder in a sling for as long as you can with minimal movement. i think thats what screwed me up was taking that sling off after it started feeling a little better. it sucks ass, but thats what keeps the pain from staying away in a shorter amount of time.

Very true !!! Keep in sling & keep it tight along with support make sure sling is holding the weight of arm !
I had a ac seperation in 05 still feel it today. Try to get a sling with wide strapes my be more comfort on neck.
Sleep in arm chair for a few nights helped me til I get used to sling & the lack of use. You may want to tie your hand to your chest comfrot wise.
Just some things I did to get by. & yes I think the yama will have the sason off now. SORRY

Viper, TAKE IT EASY !!!! It is 13 weeks today after 3 repairs to my right shoulder. All old nagging injuries (ac resection, rotator cuff repair, torn attachment to my scapula) My advise, see a specialist ! Get an MRI. I jerked around with therapy (again ) from last February til July when my doc made me get an MRI. I had a lot of pain, could barely excersize and it was really putting the brakes on all activities... I would never have gotten better this time with time. My MRI showed a lot of problems and I had surgery October 15th. I followed my post op directions to a T. I have been working out again for a month now and my strength is returning. It sucked being in the sling and sleeping in a chair, but I now have very little pain, can do pushups again. With my docs ok I rode a few hundred miles when we had snow. So get well soon and get a good orthopedic doctor so you don't waste time and ruin your summer too. And thanks in advance for the snow, you just guaranteed us a bunch

Hey Viper, I take back what I said !!! I just saw you are only 22 !!!!!!!! Stop whining, and learn how to put it back in yourself (impresses friends) at that age I would just drive with the other hand for a couple days....... ON second thought doing that kinda thing is how I ended up needing surgery in the first place.

Surgery? Wish I could tell you. Hopefully you simply stretched the ligaments and nothing is torn.... which as far as I know will keep you off the table... spend some time on Google searching dislocated shoulder and shoulder injuries... there's allot going on in that joint, and when the doc starts explaining things you'll be somewhat familiar with it. The MRI is the best way to find what happened in there... IMO if they say you don't need one get a second opinion.
