Looking for a good motel other than the L'Oiseliere in Montmagny. How is the Motel Centre Ville ? Has anyone stayed there, what's it like ? Good location ? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Florimay is a good place to stay but no restaurant on site. Good trail access & fuel.

Don't know if you are still looking for places to stay in Montmagny or . . . I have stayed at a few places there and would rate them (in order) as below. All are clean and safe. All would be fine if traveling w/women, etc.

1) Le Florimay - agree w/Andyman, this would be first choice. This place is closest to the 551/TQ5 trailhead and gas/diner across the street. It is fairly new and a very nice place for the price charged - which as I remember is as low or lower than anything else there. They do have a continental breakfast on site but no restaurant. You can walk to several places for dinner - no problem. I see they also offer a shuttle to eating places now too. I would rate this as 3.5-4 stars and wouldn't blink if bringing wife/girlfriend here. Nice big fireplace in lobby. Staff seem very snowmobile friendly and offer rooms with parking of machines nearby or out front where they are safe. (we still lock them together)

2)Motel Centreville - further down the road from Le Florimay. You have to ride down a sidewalk a fair distance then loop around and through a big parking lot to get to it. Also fairly new but more like a Motel 6. Clean, perfectly fine but also no on site food. A good cafe' almost next door for breakfast but must walk short dist for anything else. Park machines in front of your room. Been turned away here a couple of times when they didn't look busy so not sure what was going on. We did not have reservations and I heard there were hockey tourneys and other things going on. 3 stars

3) Wigwam - same general area as Motel Centreville. A bit older facility. Same food situation - walk to eat. Haven't been here in several years but it was always OK. 2+ stars

Resturant is good. I think they have a bar, I remember a drunk truck driver trying to tell us he'd just driven from Texas in one day. I've stayed here two times for one night on our saddlebag trips.

Don't know about walking to other places, after riding all day, arrive at hotel eat, then hit the sack, rinse and repeat.

Download Google Earth and the FCMQ map overlay. You then tell it to show lodging and it shows many hotels located on the trail.

They are pretty $$ - that is why I left them off. Gerg56 you didn't say if this was for a night or as a base to ride from? Either way, it is allot more than those I listed.
Wow, the Chaudierre Appalaches site (or gosled.com) shows their "package" rates START at $68p/p D/O. LeFlorimay's start at $40. If I'm going to pay that much, I'll opt for the Appalaches Spa in Saint-Paul-de-Montminy (just a short ways from Montmagny) at $94 but that includes dinner and breakfast! Wives LOVE this place!!

Nice they have all that stuff at 232 but if I am snowmobiling I'll never use it (bowling, etc). Just want a safe, warm, clean place with food nearby. smiley-faces7.gif Just my .02 -

I will be using it as a stop over. The appalaches Spa looks nice on the web site but doesn't talk about restaurant and bar. I assume it has both ? I would probably try it.
