well i pulled my chaincase apart today to change gearing to 22/43 as everyone recommends...only to find i have 22/43 in there. sled tops out at 75 and i dont know why. 9 tooth drivers, 8200rpm with twin pipes, stock 440 secondary clutching, almond red with 59.5g weights in the primary, needle 2nd clip, 360 mains
this is all with a 600ho....i was thinking i should be getting 85-90 with this gearing.... but i dont know why its topping out at 75. there is plenty of power. and when its topped out, its like it accelerates, then i can feel im not accelerating anymore....
any ideas?

What belt, what secondary spring? Have you done a full throttle plug chop to check wash/jetting?

Also, if your running the 1.75" track, that will hurt the top end as well.

I think you could use a gram or so more on the weight. Is it over reving? does it pull more at 3/4 -7/8 throttle than at full throttle?
I like the SLP MTX weights because the are simple enough to tune. check out my post, Im running pipes but it will get ya close, and my gearing is for around 95 mph and it beats my dads stocker with stock gearing for around 105mph

secondary spring is a black team. jetting is stop on for temps below 15* and using the 1114 belt. its revving 8000-8200 depending on snow conditions. right on with RPM's. it pulls just as hard at all throttle positions. just accelerates then stops accelerating.

at 1:1 you should be running 90 mph with that gear set , have you checked to see if the belt will run all the way to the top on the primary? a 600 should be able to pull 10-60, but it sure sounds like clutch bind . Any washer in the secondary ?

yeah there are delrins in it and a CCW spring. im gunna mark both my clutches and see whats not shifting out. im guessing for some reason its not, my guess is the secondary with the 440 set-up. 59.5g weights are close enough to 60 since they are matched. but i will mark clutches and take for a spin tomorrow and see wtf is up with this thing. i know its not shifting out as im geared for 90. really frusterated right now....feels like its in low gear all the time. maybe i'll try another team clutch on there too that i have around with same set-up and see if something is funky with the clutch on it

How many delrins are in your secondary? I don't know much about clutching but when I told my local pooh dealer to install 1 delrin with my new red/black, he gave me a look. When I asked why, he told me it would never shift out all the way. I had him do it anyway as this is what Mike Gulla recomended (I was referred to him by peterepeater for my clutch set-up). Mine seems to run great but I have not checked to see if it shifts out fully.
I would guess if you have more than 1 in there, you might need to pull some out.

what ignition you running???600 or 440??

you gotta get rid of that 43!!! I had the exact same set up on my RR and it was topin out somwhere close to that as well. Even sleds geared lower then me were running around me on top end. That 43 was makin me over rev a few hundred RPM's to, I droped it to a 40 and now my RPM's are smack on and the sled pulls all the way through. I know this don't seem to make sense but that's what was happening to me. I'm gonna try a 41 on the bottom and see what that does.

600 ignition. i have 1 washer in the secondary. what clutching set-up are you running with your 600ho TEAMFROG
also my sled isnt over reving with 22/43 and it seems many others are running this with sucess. i dont see how that gearing would make it do like 70-75 when its supposed to go 90...

You should have 3 delrin washers in the secondary. Also next time you go out take a sharpie and mark all the way up on the clutch to see if it is shifting all the way out.

are you running tps ?? is it hooked up unplugged or did you get it eliminated for the box??

tps it hooked up. the sled revs just fine. just there is no top end with it. it has power. i can do straight up wheelies with it. accelerates hard, then just stops accelerating everytime i open it up. like just flattens out which makes me think my clutching is off. thinking it may be the stock 440 secondary set-up, mainly the spring too stiff of a finishing rate. i will mark my clutches and see wtf is going on with this thing.
thinking of just throwing the stock RR set-up in and riding and see what happens, but going to try to make what i have work first.

prox700man,
what are the rate's on that black secondary spring you say you are using?
thanks,

well i just looked at what a stock 07 IQR 440 was in the secondary and its a 160-280 and its a stock 440 set-up. so thats what i have in there. NOT 155-222
i think this is way too much spring to shift out at all, do you guys recommend a different spring? someone with EXPERIENCE
