What does "a little on the rich side" mean.
At '8000 you should be well in the 300's for mains. Depending on temp I would say 370 or possible quite a bit less. Only a few of us like to lean on these sleds but when you do, they respond.
Before I took away any weight I would look closely at the wash and decide how the motor likes the the amount of fuel you are feeding it.
If you are already lean and using 87 octane, then you can put a lighter weight in it but it should pull the 58 at almost any altitude.

i put 56 weights in mine and it helped. all the wpsa guys were running 49s at west yellow stone and they were running 8400 rmp. i asked why and they said the ymake there power at that rpm. i tried lighter weights but i might try even lighter yet because im not quite to reving enough yet.

thanks for the feedback guys...currently have 370 jets in it and am running 92 octane...looking at the wash i could easily drop to 360's...but i have heasrd guys on here say that you should leave these racers a bit on the rich side for trail riding...i wonder what jetting guys in west were running... i am just a couple of hours from there...maybe i will drop to 360's and check the wash...and RPM's....if that does not work...maybe i will start dropping weight. thanks and let me know if you have any other thoughts....

i'm not to sure what they were running for jets? but i would be really tempted to go to 49 weights. dropping mine made a big difference, it doesnt come out of the hole a lot better but its rmps are way better and pulls quite a bit harder in mid to full throttle.

I might just drop to 56 weights first and maybe one more step on the jetting, down to 360's and then work my way down on the weights until I hit 8250 RPM's...I don't really wanna get to 8400. Thanks for the input.
