How finicky are these engines with the high comp heads. I am looking at buying one and just want to know what to look for. Should I buy the low comp head for it so I don't have to jet it every 2 seconds.

Thanks,
Zach

Give me a call before you buy a Poo 440 race motor.

They work good and are not all that much trouble....if you know what your doing.

Ok, well I bought a complete engine out of I believe an 06 IQ racer. Couldn't pass it up, besides I just want my wifes sled running at this point. Besides buying a low comp head what do I have to do to trail convert the engine? Timing, carb adjustments? The engine is going into an 02 Pro X chassis. Is there a special pipe that I need to look for? Or can I run a pipe off of an older 440 liquid engine. Do the IQ racers come with the electronic reverse, and what about this "dragon" button. I am not sure but I think that has something to do with the timing and what not to clean the engine out at the begining of a race, but again I don't know.

Here is the list of parts that I recieved with the engine, complete engine with primary clutch, reeds, carb boots, carbs with choke and throttle cables, power valve solenoids, voltage regulator, cdi, Y pipe and the fuel pump.

I think akIQpilot has the answers for most of these questions, but please any info is more than apreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Zach

OK, I read the topic about trail converting an IQ and I have a few questions (obviously) about the problems with th oiling of the crank on the 440's. I don't want to run the oil injection and would like to know more about the "rippered" mod. Has anyone done this? If I don't run the injection what do I do about the greese zerk at the pto side? How often shoould I grease it, etc?

Zack, If you haven't contacted akIQ (tom) yet do it! He is very helpful and if are close to him he can help you out on any and all things related to your IQ! He has helped me and i'm many many miles away!

The ''Rippered'' method is to drill a oil routing in youre upper crank case, so that more oil goes to the center crank bearing. here's a link http://www.akracing.com/ripperdcasemod.htm
this should anwser every question about the case Mod. U could run the motor premix and be fine. The grease zerk by the pto cylinder im also positive that youre not supposed to grease it. I beleive it was Tom who told me.

All I'm going to add is dont touch that grease zerk! if you try to put grease in it it will push the seal out and you just opened a major can of worms...

Nice, that should be halfway easy. You drill just the one side?

How about timing? Do I need to do anything there?

I have read people changing the needles in the carbs. Is that somthing I should consider?

I haven't called Tom yet. I am not sure I should bug him.
