Hi,

I have a 1996 Summit 670. It has 1300 miles on it. Sometimes at part throttle, it makes a clucking noise/tearing sheet of paper noise (no I am not a chicken). Uneven and intermittent. The engine bearings feel tight and good rotating the motor over by hand. Engine runs perfect. Is it just some clutch noise? Is this normal? Am I being a hypochondriac?

I think I figured it out. The steel tube that directs the recoil rope came loose and slid up and back, and was grinding on the bottom of the jackshaft. Replaced the retaining screw. I am going riding in an hour, but I think that will about fix it (I hope). I just got this sled, and I will have to say the the 670 engine really hauls!

You may want to check the rivets on your heat sheild too, they rattle when loose too, like a snare drum!!
