Planning a mid week getaway next week for a few days ....
Choices are Deerhurst in Huntsville or Best Western on Lakeshore in NB.
Stayed at both places many times, so what I really want to know is where will the trails be best?
Just looking for some opinions... Thanks!!!

All trails around north bay except for right in town are perfectly groomed from what I have seen, so I say North Bay. I can ride for hours on perfect trails.

D trail south of NB to T creek is a big rough mess best avoid.

Thanks... we are booked into the Best Western ... Deerhurst had no "Pavilion" rooms left for the days we wanted to go.. so we'll do that in Feb.
Any more trail reports for NB and region???
Thanks!!!!

Ya might want to reconsider NB, all trails leading in and out of town are basically down to the rocks - you'll need to ride at least 30km to get onto anything with snow. NB has significantly less snow than Muskoka right now. Doc1 is bang on you might want to ride in the Burks Falls, Sand Lake and Kearney area more so than NB. Road 240miles yesterday out of NB ( Mattawa Bonfield etc). Friday I rode around 180miles out of Bracebridge and the best trails were East of the Top D and thing close to the Top C from Parry Sound, Bala, Huntsville etc had zero base with maybe 3-4inch's of packed powder which after a few sleds had rode over were bare. (Top C, C102D, C114 and some of the 300 series). I didn't ride them today but I can only think with the traffic on them yesterday they are in much worse shape than they were on Friday. I fyou have the time you might want to keep driving a bit north and start in Timmins.
I'm not trying to discourage you from going anywhere just thought you would appreciate a true report.
Best,

Any trails within 5 miles of Deerhurst, are bare, rocky, beat to crap, no snow.....you get the picture? Ya, the trails near the Deerhurst are consistantly shot. And watch out for the first timers on the rental sleds. Unbelievable skills there. It seems to me, that this is a repeat performance by the friendly people of The Deerhurst. They use to hate catering to sledders at one point, but found out we sledders have money too and quickly changed their attitude and provided gas, maps, food ...the whole package. Now? try and find someone to get gas, service at their pub and resturant or even friendly service if you ride in on a sled. Hence the fact, why the trails are the way they are.....

Oxy,
Seguin was good everything else C related to the south was bad. The terrain north of PS on the C is similiar so I'd expect it was bad also.

Rode around there all weekend, friday night, saturday morning, everyingthing in the DuYaWanna club were excellent, saturday evening, lot's of traffic, sunday morning, groomed.
Seguin, saturday morning, awesome, saturday evening, destroyed, yesterday, very good. The trails up in the Pickerel Lake Lodge and Sand Lake area were marginal, they hadn't been groomed in a couple of days. The trail patrol advised me 2 of their groomers are broke down.
All things considered though, they weren't bad, and I wouldn't have not gone. 101B also from Dorset to the C or D, whichever, was awesome saturday morning, as good as it would ever be.
Looked at the Hill & Gully last night on my way home, looked great.
They do need some additional snow, but the clubs have/had done a great job.
