After years and years of hearing about the firetower. I finally made it up there with my dad today. What a great ride and spot up there. Winds were whipping and easily -20 windchill. Could not make it to the top of the tower due to trecherous winds but we were 2 levels from the top. Winds where almost blowing us over, and could not see a thing because of the snow in the air.

Felt great!

Anyone else ride Wodford today? Traffic was very low and much appreciated.

I rode Woodford yesterday as well..Went north to Belmont though..I was looking for the trail that leads up to the Glastonbury MTN. lookout on my way back..What trail is the firetower lookout on?

Firetower trail is off the Glastonberry Mtn loop trail.

When traveling North, look for it on the left right after you pass camp comfort and the blue bus in the woods. That's where I went up.

I still haven't made it up there yet this year. Was the trail good enough that you can make it up without much incident, or is it poor enough that I should wait until I've got somebody to ride with?

When I came down out of the woods with the wife I saw your truck in the parking lot, then when I was heading up for my 2nd ride, I saw you guys drive by in Clarksburg.

Trail up was fine. Down was icy in the steep stuff and my track was sliding out from under me. Pops sled is studded and he was fine.

I would not go alone just because of the remote location, but the trail is decent grinning-smiley-023.gif
