When I slow down, for a corner usually, and then accelerate I hear a clunk out of the clatch area of my 95 Mxz 440. I had the clutch looked at and the mech thought it was fine. I found the secondary shifts side to side 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch on it's shaft. When I push it in, that sounds like the clunk I'm hearing. I've heard from others that their secondary moves like that too, I've also heard that it shouldn't and maybe the plastic bushing is wearing thin. I have allready tightened the chain thinking that may be it, it wasn't. I'm sure its that secondary shifting side to side. Anyone have any ideas?

my brother in law's touring is like that and we were looking at the drive shaft too, his brake rotor is really loose the key in there seems too be really worn down time for a new let you know later if that helps

I just changed that spacer on the secondary, it was metal, not plastic. That did not help. If you change that key on the rotor, let me if if that was it! I guess I''ll take the other advice and check the drive shaft bearing. Anyone know how to check it?

Have similar aggravating clunk on my 2007 500xcSP over which am very frustrated and haven't gotten any satisfaction from dealer other than is "normal, all Polaris machines have it and nothing to be concerned about". Clunk occurs approx 90% of time when taking off after stopping. Also suspected the lateral play in driven clutch on shaft and fashioned temp wire spacer to eliminate but didn't improve. Now suspect may be the rotational play in driven clutch on shaft which observe when try to rotate it with brake locked. However short of removing driven clutch which am not ready to do, don't know how to determine if cause or not. Have emailed complaint to Polaris for their input but no response yet. Will advise if eventually get any satisfaction/resolution from Polaris.
