With all the talk good and bad about the Fusion, I don't see much said about Polaris' decision to drop the Pro-X line? To me this seems crazy. The Pro-X is a proven line, and was Polaris' performance flagship. And it seems even dumber with the Fusion only being offered as a 900. Am I right in thinking that Polaris only 600 and 700 offerings are in the Edge chassis? Weird.

Good question.

Seems to me that it wouldn't make a lot of sense for Polaris to continue producing more performance sleds in the "old" chassis, especially if there are some still sitting in the pipeline. I suspect they will very quickly introduce other engines in the new chassis while the old ones clear out. However, I agree it would have made much more sense to introduce the Fusion in a 600 instead of a 900.

Yes, that's correct. It's a pretty dumb move in my opinion. They ended up re-tooling the ProX line and the Edge's cast bulkhead is a lot easier to make (plus the molds are more than paid-for). I think they're hoping people will wait one more year for the sleds they really want, but by not offering the ProX, I think it's going to blow up in their faces. They're driving their most hard-core market into their competition's showrooms, having them develop a rapport with different dealers, forcing a lot of them to buy all-new clothes... This will cost Polaris some customers. A lot of people were planning on a new '05 sled. I know I was. Fortunately, my dealer had an '04 ProX left... Don't look for any other Fusions before January.

Talked to my local dealer today. Polaris has totally changed the way they produce and sell sleds. No more pumping out thousands and thousands of sleds to sit in a dealers lot for a year or two or more. They are now going to produce only what they can actually sell. Sno checking sleds will give them a rough idea on how many sleds of a certain model will be popular and they will then build X amount of sleds for sno checks and retail sales. They will be producing their race sleds on the 'Fusion' chassis, so the Pro-X was not needed in their future. They will also be coming out with a mid year release. Look for a 750 Fusion to be released. Limited supply, meaning every dealer will only be allowed 1, but may be allowed more if their sno check sales are outstanding. My local dealer may be allowed 4 due to the amount a sleds that he sno checks. Dont look for the Edge chassis to disappear soon. It will be in the lineup for a few more years. As for the looks, he stated that they do look better in person and the comfort is outstanding in any position. We'll see in person I guess at the shows coming up.

That may very well be true.
However, not all dealers have 03's and 04's left in inventory. My dealer is almost completely sold out of all models. No Pro-x's at all, a couple edge models and a few tourings.
What do these dealers offer customers that are coming off the edge chassis and want something new(different).

I own an 03 pro-x sled and I really like it. I ran my 99 700xcsp four seasons waiting for the pro-x to be released. I liked the look of the edge hood, I just wanted a quicker handling and stouter chassis. I think they dropped the pro-x because the fusion will replace it as the ultimate performance line. The xc chassis is much cheaper to build and sell as their base trail line. I think the pro-x standard should have become the xc for 05 . Put softer shocks on it for the lightweights. I believe it just cost to much to make and sell competitively.

Yup, 100%.
Yes, the Fusion does look better in person, but the RMK looks real good in person. I'm telling you guy's, this sled is worth the wait, it's that nice. I really wasn't looking forward to a new sled, but this sled changed my mind, it was a good move with a great design.

by far the dumbest move of any manufacturer this year, :banghead: so next year they bitch cause they have to many 05's on the floor, polaris was caught yanking their pud and now they are paying the price......polaris had a chassis, but ski-doo beat them to it buy releasing there's first, and the polaris looked to much like the rev and poo had to go back to the drawing board............i hear poo is gonna release another sled,(when)this is by far rediculous, polaris better release that sled before snow check is up because i dont think any poo faithfuls are gonna wait another year(including myself)

polaris has the 750 4-stroke,can some one please tell me why its not in a chassis yet, what is the goddam hold up..i wanna bitchslap!!

who ever is in charge of this out fit over at polaris because they are making some very very bad moves....poo better cut their losses and build the new iron, polaris is not offering any great deals on their pile ups are they,BURN THEM!!! bring on the 750

Not going to happen, guaranteed! They'll build to order and cut deals on the '04 and older leftovers. Poo dealers, for the most part, will be clean in '06. By '07 the market for Polaris sleds should be basically corrected and the used market should reflect it. Feel sorry for the Rev riders going in and trying to get more than $5 for their sled. Dealers will be tripping over them everywhere. Doo's push to be #1 in sales will hurt them...big time.

Man, the last week has been hard to handle on the sled forums. I've never seen such bitterness towards a sled company and a particular model. Sit back and think about it............what is Polaris???? They are a s-n-w-m-o-b-i-l-e company. They are where they are today because of sleds. They WILL be #1 again because of sleds. They are making a business decision.......how to get back #1 and to do it they need to make some changes. Maybe it's not what everyone wants but they are doing it for a reason. The Fusion will be a great sled and they will expand the line....in due time. Why did they drop the Pro-X? I'm sue it wasn't to piss off consumers. It's a business decision. Knock the Fusion now but wait until they are kicking a$$ on the snowcross track and everyone wants a Fusion and then start a conversation. It's all good, really. Even if my dealer tells me I CAN'T order a Fusion as they are sold out. There is a reason.
p.s. Not everyone loves the ergos of the Rev.

If the Fusion chassis is that good, why aren't they racing it this year in the Open Mod Class?
Polaris dropping the Pro-X chassis in favor of the Edge is a terrible thing. That would be like Ski-Doo dropping the REV chassis, and putting all of their machines back in the zx chassis. And only selling the RT chassis (the 1000s) for their top of the line machines, all 2 of them.

I still think they might be pulling out of snowcross, but some say they are not. Either way, Polaris doesn't put a new sled on the racing circuit mid season unless it's a midseason release. It's just the way they do things.

Not so!...polaris now sells way more ATV's than sleds, therefore most of the innovation and money is focused more towards whats going to increase there bottom line,Its all about the dollar to big buisiness's. :frech32: not necessarily the customers :cn:

big native, htey are supposed to be racing it this weekend in Michigan.
redF5sp, snowmobiles are what the company is founded on. Sleds may not be the big contributor to profit like ATVs but Polaris would not exist had it not been for sleds and they haven't lost sight of this.
