I'm working on a 95 Wildcat 700 EFI. I pulled the engine because I had to do some work on the sled and the frame. I know it's very similar to ZR's and other models from its time so I was hoping a few people would have some experience to share. My questions are

1. How do you set the oil pump lever arm? I see a few dashes and dots on the end that are apparently supposed to line up in some special way with a dash on the oil pump housing. Does anyone know the correct way to have it set?

2. What's the best way at getting the engine back in? I know the obvious way (just throw her in there) but when I pulled the motor, the rubber intake boot was trashed so it had a little more give. Now there is a brand new one in its place. Basically, I'm just having troubles getting the throttle body into the motor intake and into the rubber intake boot at the same time. I put a little oil on everything to make it slide in a little easier but it's still a PITA.

Thanks. I appreciate any feedback.

1. dashes line up at idle and full throttle. Meaning the one on the arm lines up with one mark at idle, then lines up with the other at WFO. That's factory. So good place to start.

2. I'd pull the throttle bodies/airbox to give you room to work, then put them back in once you get the engine back in.

I'll take a look and see how they line up right now.

I'm not sure how easy it'd be to unhook the throttle bodies and airbox and put them back in. There are a bunch of lines and wires connecting to both the airbox and the throttle bodies. After the motor is in, it seems like it'll be way too tight of a fit to be able to hook all the lines back up. Have you done this before?

Not on a F7, but on many ZR's. I know there is a lot, but normally on most sleds you can pull all that stuff without pulling the motor, so it's got to be possible. Try posting this in the Firecat forum.

I'm not going to lie, even on a ZR it's tight, but I think You'll be better off this way.
You usually don't have to totally disconnect all stuff, but just enough to let it flip out of the way etc.

This is on a Wildcat not an F7. I took some of the wires/hoses off the throttle bodies and left the throttle cable attached so i didn't screw that up. I moved it out of the way and the motor dropped in place but it sure is a tight fit. I've looked at the airbox and there doesn't seem to be any easy way to pull it out. The intake boot is the biggest pain right now because it's stiff enough to not let the throttle bodies just slide in but in the center, it's flimsy as hell and if it gets too much pressure anywhere, the whole thing starts to give way and it everything starts popping apart.
