Guys be patient this weekend as all clubs in the OFSC are to be patrolling trails for the next 3weekends to makes sure everyone has there MTO Snowmobile permit which is required to ride OFSC trails

We are just out there enjoying our selves just like any other sledders motoneige31.gif

If you want to get mad get mad at the sledders without permits and the quadders, who will be trespassing

So have a fun and safe weekend!!!!!!!!

And don't forget, you don't legally have to stop for TP, you do for OPP, CO's, and Stop, though!!!
sudbury_sledder
hopefully they will nail some quads

Careful with STOP as they check everything including placement of numbers and tags
A little over done from my experience dont give them a hard time you will be sorry

OPP TP ect are very nice to deal with

I don't mind stoppig for anyone who ask's.

But I don't like it when I get centered out, out of 6 or 7 guys and I have all my shit in order, and they still make me take my helmet off. Just to say, good haev agood ride and then I have to put the balclava/ face mask / helmet /goggles all back on.

That burns my ass.

You would think that the guy who stole the sled wouldn't go riding with 6 other people and actually have the person's reciept for his trail pass and ownership and drivers license along with his whole wallet with him would you, but that's how they treat you sometimes.

Wow, that sucks, can't say that I've ever encountered that, did however, come across the SAVE team when riding with Snowmobiler TV, luckily, Sheldon was nice and only them a warning about where they'd placed their registration numbers, all on camera to boot!!!

Well it looks like the rest of the winter is working Trail Patrol for me .
My g/f got hurt at work last week, she hurt her knee.
Doc says off work for a while, in for a MRI, and NO SLEDDING as she is on comp.

So she told me to find a riding partner, Im just going to go out with other trail patrol so she dont think Im leaving her at home and going out for fun and games.
We are going to Hanover CH for the poker run and she will offer to help in the CH.
I will help the guys up there with Trail Patrol , they always ask so now I will.

I have also been asked to help out with ST. Clements CH as well as our local club New Dundee.

I hope everyone has the passes ready and in place. As well dont forget your little sticker , RIGHT JAY????

Having to stop and answer a few questions is not a big deal. Even if they make you take off your helmet, I would rather they are checking people and stopping the morons that want to drink and ride from killing me or someone else.

Was out on the trails in Hillsburgh patrolling the B202 and came across a guy we were looking for last night ( red polaris 700 XC ) he seen me coming and fled up a dirt road, all I could see was sparks coming off his carbids. That was so funny too see. he has no Premit on his sled, the groomer caught him yesterday and he evaded him. If anyone is planning on ride Dist. 4 this weekend, Hillsburgh + Orangeville + Shelburne are all open with LIMITED conditions. PLEASE ride with EXTRA care as alot of field have bare spots and could be very dangerous to you and your sled or others, Belwood + Fergus + Arthur are still closed. Do the speed limit and just enjoy the senery. Think of the next 3 weekends as family weekends and ride with caution. If you are riding in any of these area's and see me out there (04MXZ) - stop and say hi, I always love to shoot the shit with people, thats what this hobby is all about, friends and fun.

Play safe guys and enjoy your weekend

Any TP working in the Madoc area tomorrow??? (26JAN08)
FreezerBurnt
Guys Trail Patrol are not the ones telling you to take your helmet off

we are just permit checkers,we check for permit compliance and will write down #s of anyone not in compliance and will help out anyone in need if we can

It is the POLICE OR STOP that might ask you to take off your helmet

Like I said we are doing what the OFSC public(you) wants, aka make sure everyone enjoying our 35,000+km trails has an MTO snowmobile permit.
odot1
Usually the only time police will want the helmet removed is to verify identity for charging purposes. Otherwise, I can't remember a time that I have asked for the helmet to come off......with just a basic paperwork/pass checks I try to be as quick and least intrusive as possible.
Scrimmer
That's what the majority of OPP / SAVE / TP, but I've met some STOP guys who were pretty flexing of their "power", luckily I pointed out that the group coming up had no permits, and our group was on it's way in only 5 minutes!!!

or maybe just to randomly verify you match the photo on your driver's license? That sounds appropriate and totally fair.

Yes there are some power tripper unfortunetaly

this is when you get their names and report them

Brent will Doo
Check us as many times as you like.

In my opinion the #1 reason for stopping sledders should be for the permit check. No permit = fine and no excuse will get you off even if you are carrying money to buy the permit.

Hey Braap where out Chemmy way???

the cops were here and even had the radar today

lots of sleds out

Our TP checked 80sleds for permits

I think a few guys got charged no insurance by the cops

We had 2 guys stop when I met up with the TP at 5pm,one guy stopped and got a written ticket but the other guy fucked off like a bat out of hell

Here is the kicker,I was bringing my sled to another member place,he has a side trail to his place

Guess who we see going up the side trail with hood up lol.gif yup the guy that ran away,we even tried to help him get his sled going, his buddy ended up towing him back home

Irony at its best grinning-smiley-023.gif

LOL,

I got powertripped on new years day : "Improper placement of my reg. #'s. 110$.

My licence place was (is) on my tunnel, which is the only flat plane on my sled ('07 Phazer)...

The cop said : "Hmm, I guess Yamaha wasn't thinking about reg numbers when they designed this sled, there really is no other place to put it, so, I am writing you a ticket".

I was like WTF where you want me to put it then???

He says : "There really is no other place, but having it on the tunnel is breaking the law".

As if the 180$ trail pass, and 500$ insurance bill wasn't enough...

I hope this cop dies in a fire.

/ end rant.
Nutter
Pretty good here, I couldn't tell you how many sleds we waved on today, but it was probably in the hundreds between our two groups of TP members. Awesome compliance considering the numbers. The group I was with got one in the am, but we gave him a chance to put his money where his mouth is, he said he just got the sled and tried to get a permit on his way out this morn, Ya he should of had the permit before hitting the trail but we gave him the benifit of the doubt and wrote him the ticket let him procide to the club house to get a permit, and call me with the info as soon as he got it, and we would quash the ticket. We didn't want to spoil the day for his 5 other riding buds. About an hour later we headed by the club house to another check point area, and he waved us down with his permit in hand. Him and all his buds thanked me and my compadry over and over and offered to by us lunch next time by. beer_cheers.gif

The other Rampman bumped into, he wasn't patroling today but did come across a sled and ATV heading down a trail on private property to get to the lake (suposidly to go fishing) no permit on the sled (both relics of the cold war) and the description fit a past complaint we had from the land owner who's property the trail was on they were seen today, Rampman relayed the info to me via phone and I in return relayed it to TVB, who will further persue beer_cheers.gif

Here's a few pic's from today.

Happy riders stopping to thank us for not stopping them and waving them through lol.gif

PPSC club member and HCS's very own Crazyfrog and his lads out enjoying the day

The group that was with the guy who we cut a break to, at the club house

Meeting up and joining with the other group of TP lads on the railbed north of Port

After lunch in Port we meet up and chatting it up with Shadow44 and Adrenilin Rush out on Scugog.

Todays TP blitz crew (TVB, Kevchev, Steve Mo Sp and Brandon .... minus GTXer who had to head home early) at the end of the day having some fun blowing off some fuel on the way back down the lake to the club house.

Cool to see winter has arrived and the lake villages have poped back up.

Should have fought that one, since it is permissible to have the reg #'s on the tunnel (but not behind your legs!) if their is no suitable place on the hood / side panels.

Checked a couple dozen sleds, and here's my rant....I like to wave peeps on through if I can see they have a valid permit, so, why do riders still insist on placing their permits behind their windshields? I probably stopped 6 different sleds, all with fancy windshields - coloured or smoked, and the permit is behind it!!! The permit clearly states that it must be visible from 10 metres viewed from the front!!! Doesn't anybody read anymore??? Then they get pissy because I made them stop!!!!

OK, end rant, 'cause hey, gotta go for a 100 mile ride, but the smiles are endless!!!
FreezerBurnt
yup if they do not want to stick it on their windshield stick it on your cab

Ya Mars fight that one in court

IMO your #s are on the sled, there is no reason for harrassement

btw how were the pole lines today???
Mars
I already paid it...

Yesterday was fun. Ray has a slight mis-hap and dinged his sled up a little bit, so we had to ride 2 up on the Phazer to get hom from VErm. that was funny.
