I have been on the Northland 300 ride for the last eight years and loved every one of them. If you have questions, please let me know. The ride is never cancelled and we have trailered to Ely in the low snow years, but usually always can ride around the Ely area. This year was the 20th Anniversary and we had about 125 riders with a handful of non-riders helping with luggage and support trucks and trailers.

Basically, it is a charity ride that raises money for the Special Olympics of MN. It is run by volunteers and all monies raised stay in the state to help MN athletes. We start the ride on Thursday morning from Two Harbors (staying at Superior Shores wednesday night!) and ride through the Hoyt Lakes / Babbit area to get to Ely and stay at Grand Ely Lodge for two nights. On Friday, we get to ride wherever we like (Tower, Cook, Etc.) or go fishing in the houses provided by Grand Ely Lodge. Saturday morning, we ride back to Two Harbors going through Isabella and end up back at Superior Shores for a banquet, awards, prizes, and some great trail talk. The whole ride is supported by trucks and trailers that follow along the route to assist with any breakdowns or issues that come up during the ride, as well as a luggage truck to bring all your gear up to Ely and back.

If you ever wanted to have a fun time with other sledders while also raising a little money for a great cause, you should check out the Northland 300 ride.
