Once again, it looks like any meaningful snow is to miss Minnesota next week. I know things can change, but for the last month plus, MN has been missed on any snow. Only SE MN has seen any white gold lately.

Meanwhile, our buddies to the east (WI and east coast) are receiving enough periodic snowfall to keep their banks white and giving them the ability to ride.

Heck, even California and Baghdad have received more snow than us in the last month.

Go figure......probably my fault. No sled all December and it snows....the week I buy my 06' Gade it warms up and no snow after that. Sorry guys!

Me and a buddy of mine were planning on going up north to ride, but we kinda dropped it since it looks like we have to drive 4+hours to a good area. and we arent planning on to do a overnight stay due to money. But where is the good place MTM?


Last night i was watching X games sled races, dang i was droolling at all the snow they were getting hammered with, everyone who was standing watching the race, were building up snow on themselves so fast! yea i agree snow sucks in most of this state.

I rode the trails to Britt last night and they were far from par for the course. Hard, dusting of snow, with icy corners.

What !!!!!! did I hear someone say a LONG RANGE OUTLOOK.......there maybe a possible storm a brew'n........I always hear that!!!!! The almighty weatherman on the o'l cco spoke the words today.........Well that's what his computer say's ....around the tail end of the weekend of the feb 2 ......... ....that's what I say to that!!!!!!!!! ....later

even without studs i thought they were good. hard trails= fast and great handeling. not to mention smooth

Traction wasn't a problem, it's turning thru them. A little push and go is all.

I rode a little 70ish miler today. From Buhl through Chisholm to Side Lake and back to the Tac to the Kinney Spur.

From Buhl to side lake was fuckin awesome, gawd the trails were nice and fast. I had my kid on back and we were haulin ass, we were outriding groups riding single! Passed more sleds and saw more sleds out today than I ever have in my life. Some swamps were stuttery closer to Side Lake but not bad by any means.

The Tac from the Side lake spur was a little rough with kicked out hill approaches but from 73 on east it was pretty nice. I didnt have a problem with icy corners at all. I do have fresh carbides and almost 168 studs. Kinney spur retains its title as best trail in the state!

I noticed the temp was 27 at 11am and then dropped to about 23F at 3:00. I had no trouble with my temps at all. There actually is alot of lube for the trails being so hard.

I did some damage to my hearing today.. ran 120 miles on the mississippi at wfo for most of the way... you know you had a fun ride when you step off the sled and yours ears are ringing for a longtime afterwards!!! damn wind is noisy!

That is one of the cool things about not getting much snow in my area.. the rivers rock when it doesn't snow much!! and it hasn't snowed much at all around here..

are u studded? having the throttle pinned to the bar all the way, jeez im suprised the belts held on! lol I got the F7 done today, going out to ride it for a hour or 2 in a bit here. Maybe see u tmr at the radar runs?

these new belts are bullet proof!! they should be for what they charge for them...

If you have never been on the mississippi, I'd be more then happy to take you up there!! it is awsome and bring gas money!!your gonna need it!! it has some hidden dangers and some pretty obvious dangers too!!lol,, but we can go over that before we go,

the key to a bad ass ride on the river is good visibility(sun shine mid day).. I lucked out and got that this afternoon!! one hell of a ride, lots of snow.

I'm planning on taking the pb up to N long and then to round and on to gull!! it should be interesting with the low snow!! it's gonna suck though cause my engine is only turning 6500-7000 rpm, so I am low on go,go juice right now. gotta get her in for some waranty work.lol

it sucks, I hate a non-studded track but my main trail is no studs and I've been checked before on it so I don't want that fine!!!!


When I had my firecat, I had 2 tracks.. 1.375 no studs and a 1 incher studded.. I would just switch back and forth depending on the kind of ride I was going on...

if I end up keeping this new sled I might go back on that program...

I hate these no stud trails around the state. It just makes life miserable for us. we need studs for safety and performance and they tell us we can't use them

i agree with you MTM! my M1000 was constant spin-o-fest! i was always fishtailing on the accelration from a stop sign up to like 80. So i cant imagine how it would be with a F1000! I will find out when i ride with him, maybe maybe he'll let me ride it.. lol

ALso u will have to ride way south of the merrifield bay, dont run straight out of the launch, its a huge messs of frozen ruts!!! Once you get out of the bay, the large lake... im not sure of that path becuase i just shoot out from Smarts house to gull from there which its fine. and theres ice ridge around half way crossing the large lake. No ridges on gull, so your safe! but so many ice patches. See you tomorrow!! oh i just rode back from ernies tonight, they plowed it all the way from ernies to the other end of the lake!!! and its so wide enough to fit 10-15 sleds to race at the same time. Had fun doing donuts tonight on the track hahaha sooo smooth!

I'm going to have my 6 year old with me tomorrow so we are just going to putz over to earnies! hopefully, we can find a little snow on the edges of the lakes as we go. we will be there around noon-1pm I'm hoping..

I am at 1200 and I was sick and couldn't ride from dec.15-dec.30th!!!

I work the afternoon shift alot so on weekdays if I wanna go I dont have anyone to ride with.

I fly solo alot!!, especially on the rivers!! I actually prefer to ride by myself on the rivers. I know I can get out alive if something goes seriously wrong.. If I do ride with others it is always in a small pack of equally talented riders.. I don't have the patience to ride in a large group of mixed talent and machinery much anymore!!lol

I'm the kind of rider that doesn't even like to stop to take a piss!!lol. I just want to go,go,go... and I hate problems or hold ups. nothing worse then turning a 3 hour ride into a 6 hour ride because of bs. My time is to precious to me these days..even if I am in good company!!

I would have alot of miles too if I was a groomed trail rider but, I'm not. I don't like to follow the crowd and getting off trail is what I like to do so, yea if things were different and I could afford to move to the mountains I certainly would. Minnesota and most of the mid-west have been having crappy winters for quite a few years. Too bad it wasn't like when I was a kid and had drifts up to the roof of our house.

Pretty good riding up north. I am planning a ride through Koochiching Co. later this week. Probably only 10 percent of it will be on trails, the rest will be forest roads and rivers. It would be nice to have 6 more inches of snow, but not really needed.

Was up at Grand Marais on a Monday-Wednesday 2 weeks ago, right after they got dumped on... 2-3 feet on top of what ever they already had. Best Riding i've ever seen.

Something is "sucking" all the air past Brainerd, since the wind picked up about 10pm last nite, and has been blowing like he!! ever since. I'm on the S.E. shore of a lake, and face right square into the N.W. and it's a little over 1-mile to the opposite shore.
So I really get pounded here. No snow yet, and the WX is only forecasting "up to" one inch.

Would be nice to have some snow for the MNUSA Winter Rendezvous, and Governors Ride, Feb. 7,8,9,10. In '01 or '02 the event was here and the ground was completely bare. So for something to do they came up with a groomer garage, and snowmobile clubhouse tour. Now there's excitement!

Here we go again. Why should it snow in Missouri. They hate it down there!!! Wisconsin and Iowa look to get there chunk. Minnesota is really starting to suck. Cold but nothing to go out and play in.

here in Grand Rapids we haven't had any new snow since we got dumped on in the beginning of Dec. Maybe an inch or two. This season started out looking like it was going to be awesome, but then it warmed up and some melted and we haven't got any new snow!!!

Lol, its too cold to snow. Our cold air is pushing the precip around us. We're too green. Burn up that ozone people so i can get a few thousand miles in a season.

But now they are talk'n about monday thru tuesday snow . The wizard also mention this will be one to watch. Will see what it looks like sunday night after Brady brings home another win and Randy gets his due.......later

Just like last warmup was supposed to bring snow... talk about trace amounts.
