Trail Report By: Jim Anderson, trailreporter@yahoo.com Keeler (M-140) Trail Report:
DATE: Thursday Jan. 24th, 2008
BASE: building ..
PAST 24 Hrs: 8-12in. fresh powder, still snowing
CONDITION: low visability, drifting, lots of powder ..
Wow .. what a difference cold temps, and a whole lot of snow make! We have been receiving very heavy lake effect snow from yesterday afternoon until now .. and it's still a whiteout condition outside. I rode the loop last night from keeler down around indian lake and back up, trails had not yet been groomed, but we were cutting some of the first tracks. I am sure they are just waiting for some of this "fluff" to get packed down a little better, before hitting the system in full force. The back deck is showing a measurement now of 18in. at the moment, and the snow is currently coming down at a rapid pace. Northern Berrien CO. and west Van Buren CO. are taking the brunt of this lake effect snowstorm. We are under a WINTER STORM WARNING until 4pm this afternoon. It's going to be very busy in the area this weekend so please be careful, dont drink and ride, and watch for other sledders. I-94 is a mess right now, but they should have everything cleaned up by tomorrow morning. KEEP THINKING SNOW !
