Folks, let's all take a deep breath here. The clubs have been working as hard as they can to open or reopen the trails. Trail 65 is now open from the Oxtongue Shelter north to Troutspawn. As I write this Algonquin SC groomer is working his way to Troutspawn Lake and back. This trail sustained major damage in the storm last week and there was a large washout that needed to be packed and filled. This is the last trail that we needed to reopen after the meltdown so we are now completely open.
On another point, please, stop complaining unless you have been out on the trails and see for yourselves what the conditions are, it is frustrating to read post after post by members who have not been out in the past couple of days. This time of the season the trail conditions change by the hour as we get the groomers through the system. If everyone used the negative energy wasted by giving the clubs a bad rap and channelled it into helping out, just think what the trails would be like. If you can strap a saw on the back of a sled for your ride and see any trees in the way, take a minute cut it up so we can push it out of the way the next time we groom. This saves the groomer operators hours that are better spent going forward instead of idling while they do the cutting.
Tall Pines is also hard at it and
both their groomers are on the trail right NOW!! This is information hot off the trails! Good on them after all the early season issues they have encountered.
Trails that feed into a lake usually will not be groomed until the the ice is deemeed safe. Just because there is a track on the snow does not mean it is good to go, there is always someone who wants to be first.
Things are looking good for the weekend and if you see a volunteer on the trails either say Thanks or ask us how you can help make the trails better.
Cheers and see you on the trails.
