Cruiser fest coming weekend of the 8th...wife and I went last year and it was a blast, stayed at the Pointe and it was good prices for the most part.

Anyone else planning on going? Getting together? I think I will probably go up wednesday evening, come home sunday morning.
indy28
Me and a friend are thinking of riding up Saturday. Is there usually a decent amount of sleds at the radar runs? Demo rides look interesting. Anyone else going??
Octane
I'll be there. I go mostly for the demo rides. I demo rode an '08 Yamaha FX Nytro last spring at the Geneva snocross and didnt much care for it, so I want to ride again and this time ride in on an actual snowmobile trail. Riding a sled on an actual trail gives you a much better idea of how it performs than does a little oval track with some small jumps.
Its usually a pretty good time.
OUT OF PHASE
The DNR will be there in full force to make sure everyone has a fair chance of getting a ticket.

I am sure they would much rather write a ticket as opposed to peeling trail kill from the side of a tree.

Ride Safe and have fun.

Yeah because they can't get any "revenue" from trail kill.

Do you honestly believe that statement?

It does not take wrong doing to be issued a citation in this day & age.
if they got a bug up there ass about anything, who do you think it will be taken out on?
lakelandsledder
Probably be there on Sunday to demo some more sleds. One of these days I need to decide what my new ride will be. LOL.

Man, G2O-- SOOOOOoooooooo glad to see you have NEVER changed. I have ridden by at least 5 wardens on the trail right in Boulder Jct at least 5 weekends in the past few years. They just wave at us. I guess I must look so innocent in my Arctic Cat clothing and full face helmet. Maybe you don't in yours, huh?? Gotta be something.
We are going to come up this weekend, so we will be taking our chances I guess.

LOL...Whatever. Unlike you, Im not paranoid and convinced that the DNR is out to, "take away my personal freedoms".
What are you doing here still? I thought you had given up on the sport because of the nighttime speed limit and were selling your sled.

Cruiserfest is Friday and Saturday, but Yamaha is always still there on Sunday offering demo rides.
If you want to ride something other than a Yamaha, Id suggest going on Saturday.

werd.gif I see the DNR out all the time when Im riding in NE Wisconsin and theyve never hassled me. Youd think that with my tall handlebars, handguards and motocross helmet they would think Im a trouble-making snocross wannabe, but most of the time they just wave at me as I ride by.
Only once since Ive started riding in '92 have I been stopped to have my registration stickers checked and asked to show my registration card. Even then, they checked my stickers, I showed them my registration card and they said, "thank you, have a nice day" and sent me on my way. Like I said, if you arent doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about.
indy28
Well, I will have to agree on the DNR not hassling me. Have seen them on the trails twice this year, I have a modded sled (long tracked, tall handle bars, etc.) and all they did was take a quick look at the stickers and waved. One of the guys with us didn't receive his sticker so they stopped him and he had to show his paperwork, but no big deal. When it comes to that, if I have to pay my $30 bucks to register, I would rather have them stopping non-registerd sleds anyway. I will add I have a aftermarket pipe and can on the sled that rips pretty good, and they had no issues with that either. Maybe once I do get stopped and have a bad experience my view would change but until then I don't have any problems with the DNR...of course this is just my .02!
indy28
Now that I see the storm totals from down south, maybe I should think about trailering down there!?!?!
Gettin2Old
Ok, lets site a couple of incidents of people not breaking any laws and getting issued a citation anyways,

Polished exhaust system, ticket issued for not having a stock exhaust even though it was a fully stock exhaust and there is no law about using an aftermarket exhaust as long as it is within legal sound output range.

Citation issued for "Not Stopping Long enough while at a stop sign" the officer stated that the snowmobile was not stoped for a full 5-second count, but instead only stopped for about 1-second before proceeding.

Using the right of way to access the trails from ones home! ticket issued for "Riding on a closed trail" even though it is not a trail, never was a trail, but access to a trail from your home or any other location is fully legal.

I am sure there are other here that can add to wrongly issued tickets for laws that do not exist.
Kevin Garceau
What does it matter...you quit snowmobiling and were going to sell your stuff.

Or did you have a change of heart?

I have been stopped many times, never had an issue with anyone. Maybe because Im respectful to them before they even get a chance.

Without knowing you, Im guessing your a crabby old man that things he can do anything he wants, immediatly begins to give anyone with opposing views a hard time, is always right no matter if proven wrong, and has no respect for anyone other than himself.

I truly hope thats not the case, but its the way you come across on here. Since you quit sledding I doubt we will ever have the opportunity to find out.

Id say thats a pretty accurate description.

I haven't had a pleasant dealing with a warden yet. And no i wasn't causing trouble every time either. Alot of it has to do with the warden's ego. Some of them seem to be on a power trip like most cops are. There is no reasoning with them, and they forget that they are human and make mistakes like anyone else. It sure is funny how when they aren't in uniform, they'll do the same things that they're busting you for, but once in uniform they won't let ANYTHING slide. It also depends on the area too. My particular county has a real a$$hole of a warden(Mike Stahl) that is a real dink. That's who most of my dealings were with. He is a real moron. Uses no common sense what so ever. Everything is by the book or his own rules that he makes up as he goes. I may get to see the idiot today since he'll probably be patrolling the races i'm going to. Oh joy!
Gettin2Old
Actually kevin, your summarization couldn't be farther from the truth.

After years of catching shit from a warden or two that are so fricken ignorant and lack any real intelligence you wonder how they can remember to tie their own shoes in the morning and seeing them blatantly harrassing other people and yourself for several years, a guy gets a little jaded after a while. Especially when he see so many public contacts with the "us against them" attitude they display.

Most of this comes from Kroeplins reign of terror in this region, and it might take a while for me and the other people around here to respect the DNR again.
This asshole is a criminal.

Do any of you remeber the story posted by the federal law enforcement officer on this forum about what a MI-DNR did to him at a trail stop?

Maybe most of you have been lucky by not running into a law enforcement officer on a power trip with a bad attitude yet, Maybe it will never happen. and if I were you I would pray it does not happen, then you can go on in your ignorant bliss that they are all wonderful nice guys just out there to lend a hand.

Do you also believe that Crack, Herion, & ghettos are other form's of keeping the black man down too?? Instead of them making it that way for themselves?
