to make a long story short we changed the track on the sled and pluged the coolant lines using rubber plugs. anyway when reassembling someone forgot to that out one of the plugs. so buddy went out over heated the sled BIG TIME and melted the PTO piston. do u guys think it would be OK to just replace the piston and have at it or should i look out for other things that could have gone wrong in this over heat?I have a good feeling that it was one of my buddys who likes to rush through things and it very impatiant when it comes to working on things. that over looked the the plug in the line. i dont know how he didnt notice it cuz it was sticking out of the line. I havent done a compression test on the 3 cyls but i did with my thumb and the other 2 cyls have compression. This was a carbed motor btw.

Thanks guys.

First your gona want to pull off all three heads and jugs and inspect them. Mostly likely if you melted a piston you destroyed a cylinder at the same time. Also, do a compression test before you pull it all apart. If the compression is like 110 or higher you should be alright and not need to replace those pistons but still inspect the cylinders for scores from overheating. Also check out all your bearings.

I think you should part it out and sell me the fuel pump...j/k. for sure pull off the heads and check all cylinders. As for your compression tester, it is very valuable, but I would get one with a guage.

If u need a EFI fuel pump for the RXL I have one ill sell. But if u need a triple carb fuel pump then i dont got one. But they arnt very expensive.
