'00 Mach Z 800, 3400 miles compression is consistant across the board 130's.
Couple of things:
- When you punch it, the sled bogs, but if I ease into it and get past the low RPM's, it's fine.
- The sled idles very high, I actually use the choke to lower it down at idle, but she creeps right back up to about 3 1/2 - 4 grand.
- The sled plains out at about 95-100, seems to take off good, but once it hits about 60-70 MPH she loses her balls and creeps up to 90 MPH.
I was guessing a clutching issue, but then again with 3,400 miles could she be on the road to blowing up with these hints?
The sled has Dynoport Pipes, VForce Reeds, Heads been cut with the shim kit.
Any takes?
Appreciate it,
-Craig
*By the way I use to have a '01 Mach Z and it was a raped ape all the way to 110-115 with the same setup.

That motor will go alot more miles than that. I would think that you have a clutching issue with the bog. As for the idle being so high. Don't want this to sound bad but have you adjusted the idle screw? If so and it still goes high then start looking over your carb boots. One of them might be ripped and leaning out your motor. Also clean the carbs, set the air screws properly for the reeds and pipes, and check to make sure that the reeds are closing all the way. Hope that you get it straightened out.

turn it until you hear the engine idle lower or you can look at the guage and set it to about 1800-2300rpms. this is what the dealer told me when i bought my sled.

i would check to make sure you are not sucking air ? make sure your airbox or filters are on tight. first then check rubber boots etc.for cracks. air screws good advice to in my opinion. good luck, keep us informed.

Check the bushings in your primary and secondary, could be worn and preventing it to shift out like it should.I had that same set up im my 98 mach z.I ran some radar runs on lake nippising and was hitting 119 mph in 2000 ft.

Bog at low end and high Idle two indicators that point to air leak . Lean bog syndrome , smack the choke on and punch it does it help. 2nd Also renove prmary spring and measure free lenght agains spec. Has engagement RPM dropped or is it lower than it should be?

I had the same trouble with my sled bogging at low idle, had good luck with changing bushings and helix sliders also if you deside to play with idle screws make sure that your carbs are still running in sync this will cause poor performance also.I set my carbs with a 15/64 drill bit in the carbs then adjust the cables so they move in sync.rpm runs 1800.good luck.
