Has anyone done this yet?I brought the sleds home from being studded and Simmons dbl runner ski,s.Its perfect, hooks up good now and it steers like it has power steering, until this.Is there anything stronger?Maybe a pro-x?I am assuming the steering post is polaris? If it is I think I see a pattern to all my blade problems,"polaris".Good thing I was riding it and not my wife.I love my hpo's new seat, and I like the m-16 better than the 121 air-link.The hpo is a weapon!
I guess she is ski-dooin tomorrow. And I am going to examine the hpo first thing, its been hammered and has 4" risers, scary ride. This is the second steering loss in 11 months,The first was a snapped rod end on the hpo.I wear a tek-vest at all times. This my third blade failure whose outcome could have resulted in injury or death. These things really like to fly.I just passed several riders and was passing cars on the trail next to the highway.

Did the post break or was it the welds? This worries me, as I ride rather hard. I have a 3" riser and love to push it as hard as I can from time to time. I'm going to check mine first thing in the morning.

The gussett was torn as well as the broken weld,Is this a polaris post.I havent really ridden the 1wx,Any insight from the previous owner would be appreciated.I am tough on sleds and with the increased leverage of the bar risers on my HPOI cant believe they havent already broken after seeing this. I am very concerned!I didnt want to post on the polaris page until I knew it was sourced from them, but I belive it was.LOOK THEM OVER GOOD!

This is the first time I have ever seen this happen on a sled, its hard to say what the sled may have going through previously that may have stressed this shaft. my 1wx had 3'' risers on it when I bought it I removed them before I ever rode it. I will also check mine today. The wife and I are thinking about heading north for some riding, NOT ENOUGH SNOW HERE, what area would you recomend in NH. sno-dust

The HPO looked ok but kind of winky.Maybe its just a fluke ,you can see in the pictures the notch in the torn, broken metal did the weld break first?I rode today and it has me feeling a little gun shy,the hpo has 4" risers and it has been thoroughly thrashed.Something else to think about when hammering down through the woods, these incidents are starting to ruin my riding experience.Depends on when your coming and how much time you are going to spend.

Any experience with this?I think the weld broke then the gusset (for a lack of better terms) ripped on the part unwelded to the tube(the gusset part of the head clamp appears to be spot welded to the tube.Origin of the steering shaft?Has everyone examined yours? My HPO has bar risers and has been ridden by a 300# gorilla for 5 seasons it appears good. This incident has made me gun shy.I wasn't doing anything stupid when it broke,The rear didn't have enough air in it to hammer any bumps,I left it light as the weight transfer on the air-link is much different than the m-16.When a little soft ,it wheelies when you get on it ,totally opposite of my HPO which feels stuck to the ground, fun.

I also had a steering rod end break on my hpo (Upper rod end, where it connects to the steering post)Last year in troy n.y.-I went right down over a banking and through some trees, lucky. It broke off just below the ball, and it appeared to have been a quality unit.I was told it is possible that my problems may be gorilla related. It was what put me over the edge and buy a tek-vest for myself and my wife.
I put the rod end back together with some super graded bolt from fastenal, grade 12?,and a artic-cat ball joint(Precision Powersports?Hilton?N.Y.The only dealer in the area to take 10 minutes to match the thread-Thank You)I used the bolt as a stud.I thought the ball joint was a freak thing-maybe I better change them all .(had to buy the whole box of bolts)
