I need a new decent point and shoot for the sled im getting a slr but really do not want to carry it all the time. Would this be a decent point and shoot ?

I'd say pretty much any Lumix model. They have a leica lens and gryo's to stabilize it. It's not an SLR but takes AWESOME quality pics, I use mine in the bush all the time when fighting forest fires as I print and sell the pictures privately. Definitely worth the money.
